In most instances we can't control who we are attracted to. If it was racist to have a preference in this case literally everyone would be pointing a finger hollering RACIST.

No matter how many paragraphs you write on the Internet, race will always be a thing that you are physically identified by. Just like someone not wanting to date an overweight person, some people might not want to date someone with darker skin/lighter skin/specific physical features. It doesn't mean they hate them/feel superior to them, it just means they aren't attracted to them.

We can say who we are attracted to. Like I have racial preferences and thats fine. But putting these things on the street is the equivalent of every straight guy shouting "I'M NOT INTO GUYS" every time we pass them on the street.

Like is it that hard to just ignore/reject/block people you aren't attracted to?

It's amazing how powerful social media is. Four years ago, racism existed JUST AS MUCH as it did today in 2016 but nobody was griping about it until last year as a blessing and a consequence of the rising popularity the Internet and its applications have to offer.....

I think it's a two way street. I've personally met POC who specifically outright say "I hate white people, white people are so annoying" etc. but it's not considered "racist" if the minority is prejudiced against Caucasians. I'm not gonna defend my own race either though because whites are also notorious for being supremacists or exhibiting prejudice towards minorities.

That being said, it's a two way street. Racism is always gonna exist folks, its just the way of the world unfortunately

Sorry, but the feeling has NEVER been mutual for me. I don't disregard people because of their race or the color of their skin. It's just not me.

Edit: I also fail to see how hard it is for people to understand that saying you're not attracted to a WHOLE race because of the race's "features" is racist..... Like how is it hard to grasp that concept. We're not exotic outfits you get to try on and be "cool for the summer". It shouldn't be that way.

The difference between height and race is that height has never caused the peril of millions of people. People have not been raped, killed, or enslaved purely because of height. The reason why height, which is something you can't control, is "okay" to have a preference on is because it doesn't have such a tragic history. Albeit, I think discriminating on height is dumb too. I understand prefering to be taller/shorter than your partner, but if you meet someone who is perfect for you but their height is not what you'd like and you reject them solely based on that, you need help. Only liking "light skinned" individuals is also problematic because we're holding them to European beauty standards.

But I've always thought people that do don't actually dislike an entire race they just don't like the things they typically see when someone of that race approaches them so it reaches a point where they feel compelled to type out "No "X""

Ofc like what others said you can't generalize an entire race. For example if you say no blacks, would you really turn down a rihanna or Beyoncé sliding into your messages? No. That's why I think when people post exclusions they're applying it to the typical people they see not the super gorgeous that could exist

If we keep the idea that people are born with their sexuality and is GENETIC, there is no choice over sexuality and therefore no one gets upset when heterosexual people only want the opposite sex or queer people wanting otherwise.
