Acting friendly towards suspects is one of the most effective strategies towards getting a confession. Often times interrogators will talk about how impressive the suspect is to boost his ego and get him talking.
Cops do some moronic things. This is not one of them.

This a mass murderer, not a teenaged accomplice to some petty burglaries around town. The FBI handled the murderer's initial questioning. The police were not involved at all—all they did was arrest him and bring him to where he needed to go next. And in that process, he asked for food and they said, "A Triple Whopper with bacon cheese, large fries, and a coke comin right up!"
Don't quote me with more apologist mess. Merci.

I was giving a hypothetical sis.
None of us know the exact circumstances, and if you say you do you are a liar.
If you listen to some posters here you would think the police were giving the kid high fives and prepping a trophy for him. Which is moronic.

Oh please they could have took him down to the station like most cops and then give him food from the station.
They arrested him and got him some quality food doesn't matter if it's burger king it's still better than most in situations like this.

All the people defending this in here are some white idiots, and you can warn the **** out of me because I'm sick of these idiots wasting space on earth at this point. Bitch, feed him some plain bread and water not a ****ing combo at Burger King. And he was hungry they had to get him to talk? BITCH what is there to talk about he went up to a place where people gather go spirituality and religion and shot them dead all over their skin color, THAT'S IT. Dumb people like the ones in this damn thread must really need some type of mongrel to shoot up a room full of white people (god forbid) just so you could see and realize the difference on how they'd be treated. Take those blinders OFF, yall wreak of delusion, ignorance and privilege and I'm disgusted.

Don't be intentionally dense.
The article says nothing about what food, if any, was currently available at the station where he was questioned. (There are a number of factors that could be in play considering the size of the case and the number of law enforcement on the scene.
It does not say who specifically decided to buy him the food, or their reasoning for doing so other than that he was hungry, though the article SPECIFICALLY mentions that he was refusing to answer questions because he was hungry. If it would get a confession they could buy him a platter of lobster for all I care.
Race relations are an incredibly important issue, but theads like this make the whole thing look like a tabloid side-show and cheapens the debate.

Or, even to make it more extreme, Eric was begging for them to let him breathe (forget food, we are talking oxygen) and they did not give two ****s.
So, these new minorities and denialists can take their b.s. and shove it where the sun don't shine. Please.

Right, cops go out and buy fast food for their suspects (especially mass murderers!) instead of giving them the crackers or ham sandwich they have stored in the back of the precinct. Lol.

They will if they feel it will help them get a clean confession. Like I said before it's a common police tactic. What do you expect the cop to do cook him up a burger right on the spot. What makes you think they even have a ham sandwich laying around anyway. Something you know from experience?

@ the people in here acting like if a black kid had just brutally slaughtered 9 praying white people, the police would've treated him with a damn double whopper with cheese and curly fries and a cinnabon on the side too. Like take a dozen seats, this little troglodyte did noT need burger king, he can eat a goddamn cheese sandwich just like the other prisoners.

The reading comprehension. Where does it 'SPECIFICALLY' mention he refused to answer questions? The article states that the only conversation they had with him was about food. It also states that he was quiet and didn't talk much, and that doesn't translate to "refusing to answer questions." Again, the Shelby police aren't handling his case and thus are not responsible for 'getting a confession.' Moreover, if you think a police department full of officers, staff, and prisoners doesn't at least a cracker and a cup of water, then you're denser than me. I don't have the time for this "Wait, gotta hear all the facts!!" nonsense.

It doesn't cheapen anything for anyone on the right side of the race debate. Next.

Again, the police are not handling his case, the FBI are. Keep up. See above re: food.

I...find this hard to believe. How exactly did the Mirror of all publications wind up with this exclusive scoop?
