Nothing new here cops do this all the time when interrogating a suspect. It's a tactic. Not sure if they can do it anymore but they would offer smokes as well. Anything to gain trust and get a confession. Even though they know he did it they still want that confession and they certainly don't want it from a kid that has not eating in 14 hours and is going to say they denied him food. That is called covering your bases. In a case of this magnitude they are not going to screw around so they gave him a burger BFD. He is going to rot on death row.

Right, cops go out and buy fast food for their suspects (especially mass murderers!) instead of giving them the crackers or ham sandwich they have stored in the back of the precinct. Lol.

If they think the suspect is more likely to talk... then yes.

Acting friendly towards suspects is one of the most effective strategies towards getting a confession. Often times interrogators will talk about how impressive the suspect is to boost his ego and get him talking.


Cops do some moronic things. This is not one of them.
