Have never tipped in my life because I've never had to. Why tips in America can't just be equated into the cost of the food and then the waiters paid fairly, like everywhere else civilized, I'll never know.

How are we "cheap" if we don't tip them? We pay like 3x what the food actually costs in restaurants.

America is so obsessed with tipping but when I'm in the US I always try to do it cause I know how important it is. But when I'm home I only do it once in a while, not regularly but when I pay with cash and there's a little left or when the service was exceptionally good I'll leave something.

Do you have good service though? My friends from abroad and who have lived abroad all say that the service in other countries is terrible compared to here.

I mean it's just my opinion, but I would rather work hard to provide good service for the chance for a good tip for more money, than to just coast by on minimum wage.

Yes, although I think it's not as much of an issue over here in Europe as it is in America. I try to leave tips whenever I go out because it's just disrespectful not to. Waiting tables is hard enough without rude customers anyway.

It depends on many factors. Where do you live, service quality, if you/the one ia paying can afford it, etc.. So you can't be horrified by some people saying no.

In Argentina it's kind of a common thing to tip(or they include it in the bill),but it's optional and depends on the place and people tbh. But in my opinion, waiters shouldn't get angry if someone doesn't tip them for many reasons. Most waiters need it for living becauSe it's a crappy job I understand, but you can't blame the other person if he/she decides not to. Also, some waiters are very prejudicial and treat people that could give them higher tips better than probably someone that looks like's going to give the average tip.

News flash, there is a world outside the land of the free and in some parts of that outside world, waiters and waitresses are paid a decent enough salary that tipping isn't compulsory. For example, in the UK, the amount we tip depends on the service. If the server was rude or gave poor service, we don't tip them. If the service was ok, we might tip a couple of pounds, and if the service was great, maybe a bit more again.

You don't have to tip if you don't want to, point blank period. It's not the customer's fault they are paid low wages,and we shouldn't be forced to close the gap b/c employers give substandard wages. Change the industry if you don't like it.

i used to always tip until around 2 weeks ago when i waited like 15 damn minutes for my first order to be taken and then around 20 for my second one. no tip for that.
