Teenage Dream is one of those nominees that made me go "WTF," but in hindsight I understand why the BRP picked it. It has gone onto become one of those most successful eras of our time. Its nomination is quite warranted, all things considered.
Loud and The End would be my picks.

2) "Teenage Dream" is not a small hit, it was a big hit, it was released reached #1 and had longevity surprising everyone, and had good digital sales.
3) Since the moment she released "California girls" to the day of the nominations announcement She never left the top 10 on the billboard hot 100.
So she had a manufactured album maker of hits, being played on the radio like on one else = ALBUM OF THE YEAR nomination
Don't tell me you actually think she got the nomination because the album was musically amazing

and by the way we are not talking about Billboard we are talking about the Grammys.... LOOOOOL now the Grammys are confused with the Billboards EPIC.

You keep contradicting yourself.
You kept saying how it was nominated because of its commercial success. Then you go and say "this isn't billboard."Grammys obviously thought it was an amazing album, enough to nominate it.
You have yet to respond to my point about more successful albums being snubbed.

The OP makes it seem as though TF was critically panned. It wasn't... At all...
Just because it had commercial success doesn't make it undeserving... It was critically acclaimed as well.

heheh Girl , I'm guessing you are very young and naive.... because you didn't get that my Billboard not being the Grammys comment was actually an ironic comment.
and the thing is that years before Grammys had a transparent honest process, thats the reason you find out in the past several huge seller albums that missed nods for album of the year, Most of the album of the years nominees in the past had good sales but they were great albums.
thats the difference with the current Grammys, it doesn't matter anymore if the album is good or not, just get a super succesfull era and you'll get a nod for album of the year

Not true. Even currently the Grammys snubbed very successful eras.

"The Fame" was not critically acclaim it just received favoralbe positive reviews
I think "The fame monster" and "Born this way" deserved the Album of the year nominations..... but I think "The fame" didn't deserve it.
I mean I think the academy was influenced by all that excitment and fever about Lady Gaga and that huge year she had with all these crazy hits and super album sales , they were like blinded by the excitement around it.
but nowadays if you listen to "The fame" you find is a cool, good, fun, catchy album, but it also features some filler tracks, and the most lyrics aren't way too impressive either.... so yes is a good album, but maybe the nomination for album of the year was kind of over the top / exaggerated.
I'm sure there were musically better albums out there during that time.

I believe that, as crazy as the statement may sound, The Fame is actually underrated here on ATRL. While many people say it has several filler tracks, many people also neglect to acknowledge the album's influence upon today's mainstream. It is by no means the only album that helped push dance-pop toward being the main genre of popular music, but it had a very significant effect on it's re-popularization. The Fame was very well done and its main strength lies in the countless extremely catchy hooks, and I think that the album was a great take on dance-pop and nu-disco (for example, "Disco Heaven"). It did very well critically perhaps for the fact that in 2008, it wasn't exactly generic. Today, though, it would be considered generic if released in the current atmosphere.
Songs like "LoveGame" and "Poker Face" are very good dance-pop/electropop songs. "Paparazzi" was an amazing midtempo electropop track, one of the best I have heard from any artist. Sure it had some fillers like "I Like it Rough" or "Paper Gangsta" but it did have a lot of very good tracks, and not any that were really "bad", per se.

All of them, except for Doo-wops, are undeserved.

I agree with most of what you said, but if the Fame was released in January, when she was actually becoming very successful, I think critics would have been harsher.

I know that.
Some albums/songs etc got nods because of success. Let's face it, the Grammys aren't ALL talent. They base it not only on quality but on quantity as well. The Teenage Dream era was huge and it deserves the nod because of the success. It was indeed the album of the year along with 21 in terms of success so you need to shut.
There's nothing to be ashamed of tho. It's still a nod from one of the most prestigious award giving bodies in music.

Loud. There were 2 specific albums that could have taken its undeserved place.

tbh, the fame is one of the most deserving among those.
The album totally brought huge changes to pop music (together with The End)
on the other side, Loud, Teenage Dream and DWH are smash hit generators .. so ..

Teenage Dream. Some songs are well-written but overall,it's like one of the most formulaic, repititive, stale, generic albums in existence, imo. And it's metacritic score pretty much proves it.

I guess the E.N.D, and bruno deserved his nomination, his album was so fresh and completely different with real melodies, it's the perfect pop album but still different styles were combined in its production, it's the only album on the list that was completely recorded with real live instruments.
