All Katy had was two #1s, a #1 album, and another smaller hit at the time. There have been TONS of albums that did better than that and didn't receive a nomination.

1) haha dude or girl .. don't act like 120M or 130M is not huge or good OK?... she was the queen of the radio, she released an album that contained songs smashing like no one else on the radio
2) "Teenage Dream" single is not a small hit, it was a big hit, it was released reached #1 and had longevity surprising everyone, and had good digital sales.
3) Since the moment she released "California girls" to the day of the nominations announcement She never left the top 10 on the billboard hot 100.
So she had a manufactured album maker of hits, being played on the radio like on one else = ALBUM OF THE YEAR nomination
Don't tell me you actually think she got the nomination because the album was musically amazing
