considering when ke$ha first came on the scene some people were calling her the "new gaga" i'd say gaga changed the sound of radio even more. however, i do think ke$ha helped usher in the party rock trend that LMFAO is doing really well with right now.
Some of you people act as if dance music didn't exist pre-2008. I know that it's still relatively new for most of America, but the rest of the world has been on it for decades. "Just Dance" and "TiK ToK" are undeniably pure-pop songs at heart. They have influences of dance music in them, but I'd never consider them even close to real "dance" music at all. No one brought dance music back. It was always here. You just never realized it.
Trends in music are based on what people are feeling at that particular moment. Music is all about connecting with the audience. During these past few years, the world has undergone some economical changes and hardships. People need something to feel good about and brighten their day. That's why "Just Dance" worked as a record. It made a strong, uplifting and empowering link. The same thing goes for "TiK ToK". People just want to have a good time right now, and that's why we are hearing this kind of music all over the radio. Gaga and Ke$ha certainly sparked interest, but no artist really started this movement. The public chose to embrace it.
People freak out for Gaga copying songs from the 17th century, but don't realize they have been listening to the same chord, same melody, and same drum for the last year and a half. And this is just half of it
For the 1000th time :
Also Britney, like many others before her (sans the rap-talking thing), already did the Tik Tok sound, as you called it, in 2008 with "Trouble".Chaka Khan & Stardust are the one we should all use as blueprint for its creation.
By the way BTW is a carbon copy of EY, so it's normal people freaked out and most of the songs you posted except CG, for example, are not quite at that level.
IMO Uffie should get the credit for recreating "the trashy obnoxious party girl rapping over minimalistic electronic beats" persona and not one single person mentioned her name. Poor girl...
Am I also the only one to have noticed "S&M" is basically the female version of "Sexy Bitch" ?
And IDK. I just know Ke$ha's great, innovative, progressive and doing it with ease. Dr. Luke giving the same song over and over might be something I'd say first (nothing taking away from K$).
Uh.... Ke$ha did not have that much power or relevancy at the time to change the future of music. Before her debut, we already had generic friendly music being released - "Just Dance", "Pokerface", "Boom Boom Pow", "I Got A Feeling", "Down", "3", "Whatcha Say". If anything, GaGa was the one that changed the future of music.
