And I actually take back my earlier statements. Do I think it was a great idea for Gaga to attack someone specifically? No, I would've her rather just made a general statement...however, I absolutely see where she's coming from. A lot of veteran critics that have respect *from* their writing for long have gotten a bit stale when it comes to criticism. Simply panning is quite easy, especially when ignoring the artist's message/purpose/etc.
And, frankly, the 54 year-old Horyn acted very immaturely on her twitter...then again, she's always been a bit immature:

She's harsh on her critics, are we really gonna pretend this some out of this world thing? Especially in fashion?

How so?
When you're criticizing a musician's work, you're criticizing his or her music; when you criticize a critic's work, you're criticizing his or her critiques. Why are critics suddenly untouchable? That's like saying "oh let's not see if the government corrupt - they're cool."

We're both human beings.
Express yourself, don't repress yourself, right?

I just think it's kinda disrespectful, especially when you have such high power in the music industry. I could see if she made it general, but I did not like how she mentioned her name. Same goes with madonna, her outward views on Bush and Sarah Palin were very disrespectful and I dont see the point in doing that because it could backfire.

But some people dont care about back fire. It's called standing up for what YOU believe is right. There are some people who can give a flying **** what anyone thinks.
Must be an Italian thing lol.

Someone has to though or there would be no individualism.
I personally love the fact that her, Kanye & Madonna are so outspoken. They may not always be right and have a ton to lose but... they dont care.

Yes, but she's not doing her job like a proper critic should do, she's just being bitchy for the sake of being bitchy. If 15-year-old people are doing it better than "respected critics", well, what can Gaga do? ![Alexz 2](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRL_Smilies_All/atrlers/alexz2_zps7d3bf068.gif)

That deppends of your point of view. I love her critics, she's spot on, the bitchiness is a plus. And no, Tavi is not doing better than, never will.

What differentiates Cathy from Tavi, is that [b[Cathy is a extremely competent and experienced journalist[/b]. If she criticizes something or someone, it's not because she has personal issues with that or ahe just felt like it, it's her job. You can't compare, these people observes the industry from the inside, they have something called credibility. People who create a blog and tweet something don't.
|
I highly beg to differ. She may have been around for a long time, but that doesn't necessarily make her oh-so competent. Fashion journalism is not like political journalism, actual competency isn't really required, just the ability to get people to buy into anything you say, including utter ********. And look at how well it's working in this instance. People are missing Gaga's point (she spoke from an objective view, not just a personal one), and I think some of you guys didn't even bother properly reading what she said. I know she's been quite annoying and making questionable decisions lately, but let us not forget that underneath the ridiculousness lies an intelligent woman who sometimes does know what she's talking about and knows her ****.

It's like telling nancy grace to stop being the bitch she is. That's not right. Not every critic is going to kiss your ass, and for her to come for one of the most respected is kinda unnecessary.
|
If someone clearly sucks at their job, you're just gonna pretend that it's all good? Do you follow that same logic with artists you think are mediocre?

Well obviously Gaga contributes to that. Why else would this bug her so much? ![:o](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v232/korn0818/ATRLSmilies/redface_zpsfd99364e.gif)
