Ok...I re-read the article...re-read what Ms. Horyn said...re-raid the comments on this thread...
And I actually take back my earlier statements. Do I think it was a great idea for Gaga to attack someone specifically? No, I would've her rather just made a general statement...however, I absolutely see where she's coming from. A lot of veteran critics that have respect *from* their writing for long
have gotten a bit stale when it comes to criticism. Simply panning
is quite easy, especially when ignoring the artist's message/purpose/etc.
And, frankly, the 54 year-old Horyn acted very immaturely on her twitter...then again, she's always been a bit immature:

She is known for her unflinchingly acerbic reviews, which got her banned from numerous designer shows, most notably Giorgio Armani.

In January 2010, Horyn was widely criticized when she insinuated in an article that actress Christina Hendricks was large. The photo of Hendricks running with Horyn's piece was distorted (widened), possibly to falsely illustrate Horyn's point. The New York Times replaced the image, claiming it was slightly distorted inadvertently due to an error during routine processing.

Horyn's review of Chelsea Clinton's choice of gown and attire on her wedding day went as follows: "Ms. Clinton's dress, on the other hand, suggested a completely different relationship [than other wedding gowns Horyn had reviewed] with fashion — even, perhaps, an ambivalent one."
