I have no problem with her dealing with her insecurities, but practice what you preach. Don't sing about body acceptance and this and that "doesn't matter", and "I'm happy with myself" while doing the opposite. That makes you fake.

I cannot believe you're asking this question and btw Beyonce has always spoken about her insecurity when it comes to her thighs. She is human so she does what humans do, whats the problem in that? Your interpretation of PH is also wrong.

Basically if we are using her lyrics against her we should learn to distinguish where they are coming from.
A song like Flawless is pure Sasha Fierce. It's pure over-the-top empowerment, meant to make you feel like the true Diva you are. It's a persona put on by Beyoncé to be that woman we all think of her as on stage.
A song like Pretty Hurts is pure Beyoncé: empowered but vulnerable and still emotional. It's Beyoncé singing about an issue she cares about. It's a plea as much as it is empowerment.

There are many, many apps that even out your skin, remove blemishes, add flattering lighting and filters to make you look more blown out and flawless. Then there are the many (mostly Asian) apps that lighten your skin and make your eyes bigger, amongst other things.
So in a way, yes.

It's based a lot of of looks and appearance and so there will be things that are fudged to make things seamless. To put Beyoncé on a higher standard than anyone else and never mention that all the other faves on Elle, Cosmo, Vogue, etc. are also photoshopped to the heavens is just picking when you want to care about these things.
Basically you want her to be more real, but by seeing that she tried to fake a thigh gap you're really seeing her insecurities, and getting to know her in this real way is not good enough for you. You just want flaws you can see and hear, not ones like this. It just sounds like you're trying to find a way to criticize.

You constantly choose to evade the issue at hand and talk around blatant topics when it comes to Beyonce.
Can you acknowledge her hypocrisy on some level, or does the concept of her contradicting herself by preaching one thing in her songs and interviews and doing another in public escape you?
Serious question.

Beyoncé sings these songs are a means of empowerment but she does not automatically have to never succumb to not feeling flawless. Or did you forget why Sasha Fierce exists?

this is a good point, however

This is so true! Maybe the poor woman is insecure because she thinks she can't do wrong, her fan-base and some part of the media has her in this pedestal that she feels she has to be perfect and then this happens. I have never seen a true member of the hive admit she did wrong or that she's screwing up at something, it's awful.

She always talked about her thighs in interviews and her arms on Flaws and All live.

I never seen anyone that photoshops personal Instagram photos. Instagram = fake photoshoots. Instagram is about sharing your personal life as it is.

Those lyrics don't really prove anything either. She's as much chanting those lyrics to empower others as it is consoling herself as well. Maybe I have a different interpretation. Even in Irreplaceable I thought it was being ironic not sassy, that she was trying to stay confident by saying these things but really felt heartbroken and I liked it a lot better then.

Can we look at the song in it's full context:
Quote:
"Pretty Hurts" is a self-empowerment pop song discussing society beauty standards and analyzing female body image. Beyoncé decided to record it to show the negative effect of beauty pageants and expectations on how women should look.
|
As a "feminist" surely she she would be against the unrealistic beauty standards for women. Then why is she perpetuating them, when she is in a position of power? That's like preaching about racial discrimination in the working world and never once hiring an ethnic minority.

So, let me get this straight:
When one particular artist has a physical flaw or imperfection or makes a mistake, it's to be celebrated and honored and analyzed for its deeper meaning. The mistakes somehow actually equal greatness.
-meanwhile-
When everyone else has these same issues, they're to be mocked, dragged, ridiculed, pointed and laughed at, to no end.
The struggle to level the playing field. I guess.

I personally don't think she's an unattractive person in any way,so i can criticize her without being a hypocrite for using that to cover it up.Altering a photo is desperate imo,but i understand where it comes from. It's just sad that it has to be that way.
