It's not "I don't care about beauty standards" it is "Beauty standards are really tough to deal with". The song is empowering but it is also a bit sad because she is not cured by the end. She wants to be happy and she knows conforming hurts but she's not immune from being human.

I don't see anything wrong with looking up to a woman like Beyoncé.... (?)

Everyone photoshops themselves these days, not gonna throw anything at her because of it. She and her team need to be more intelligent about the whole situation. When you upload a photo to a social site that has 17 million followers you don't do this, it's obvious that someone is gonna realize that. She should use other angles if she's so insecure or not take bikini pics at all. She's hot but something about her legs is really bothering her and a lot.

That's the point I was making in that Rihanna post, Beyonce gets hated and scrutinized to the point where people makes special rules for what she can and cannot do. It's crazy.

This 100%. It's disgusting. Beyoncé, being the standard, is always the exception.

And lipsycning, photoshopping, etc. are only exclusive to Beyoncé? No one else does it?

He didn't say that. And I agree, her obsession with perfection is annoying, I much prefer when she knew what the weird "spontaneity" meant, pre-2012ish. And no one else even comes close in that regard, besides mariah I suppose (and it's frustrating for us lambs sometimes too)

would love for any of y'all to be one of the most microscopically examined celebrities in existence and see how y'all would fair, most of y'all acting like your own thighs don't cause friction fire from rubbing together so much

But most people in this thread are saying that she shouldn't feel the need to photoshop her thighs, and that they look fine the way they are.

Beyonce is so talented and beautiful, I just wish she would be more "real" and not feel the need to lip-sync or photoshop her own pictures just to make sure she's 100% perfect. Nobody is 100% perfect and shouldn't try to be. If she doesn't have a thigh gap, who cares? If her voice isn't sounding her best one day, its not a big deal.
|
Of course this is about Beyoncé. She is the one everyone always over scrutinizes. I'm just saying that this is the entertainment industry. It's based a lot of of looks and appearance and so there will be things that are fudged to make things seamless. To put Beyoncé on a higher standard than anyone else and never mention that all the other faves on Elle, Cosmo, Vogue, etc. are also photoshopped to the heavens is just picking when you want to care about these things.
Basically you want her to be more real, but by seeing that she tried to fake a thigh gap you're really seeing her insecurities, and getting to know her in this real way is not good enough for you. You just want flaws you can see and hear, not ones like this. It just sounds like you're trying to find a way to criticize.

Ask Beyoncé. Does the typical "human being" photoshop their instagram pics?
I have no problem with her dealing with her insecurities, but practice what you preach. Don't sing about body acceptance and this and that "doesn't matter", and "I'm happy with myself" while doing the opposite. That makes you fake.

I mean, while the stairs look distorted, it doesn't look like she created a thigh gap. Were that the case the stretching would just be horizontal, and you actually wouldn't notice a difference. I'm not sure what desired effect would cause one side of the stairs to lift up diagonally

Guess you don't understand what empowering songs are all about.
It's like shading Gloria Gaynor for feeling depressed one day, like GIRL WASN'T IT YOU WHO SAID 'I WILL SURVIVE'?… stop putting an impossible standard on Beyoncé and maybe she will stop feeling that there is an impossible standard to live up to. Beyoncé sings these songs are a means of empowerment but she does not automatically have to never succumb to not feeling flawless. Or did you forget why Sasha Fierce exists?

Stop being ridiculous with such asinine statements. Feminism has nothing to do with taking pictures and editing them afterwards. The embarrassing struggle to seem funny.
