Femme fatale actually has variety, why not showcase it? If a slow song flops, so what. At least she took a risk......

This. Ever since 2007, she's been releasing the same kind of song (except for Break the Ice, but that was too ahead of its time to get the airplay it needed, and let's not even mention the video or 0 promotion).
She had a real chance with Circus to release something which could change the pace with Out From Under or Unusual You, but she went with Radar, the most generic song she's ever released. And now it looks like she's going to pass up on those opportunities again, which she has with Criminal and He About To Lose Me
I think that's why she's struggling so much internationally, and even in the US her album sales are luke warm

To be honest, she needs to show a different side to her.
We keep seeing the same tired-through and delayed "Let's **** and dance" songs.
It's time she shows us a more sensitive side to her that we haven't seen since Everytime.

I've com to terms with the fact that HATLM or IO being released would be TEW GUUD to be true.
At this point it's clear Britney will not promote, so it's easier to go with the song that would get some attention - collab with Will.I.Am - on its own, even if we all know the public didn't exactly enjoy it.
All in all, it won't matter anyway, the album will be officially dead after the VMAs so, in all honesty, I couldn't care less anymore.
