Okay so it took me a good minute to soak everything in.
Litten is perfection & I love that they're continuing with the Chinese Zodiac theme for the fire starters. It better stay on all damn fours as it evolves!
Rowlet at first struck me as basic & uninspired - but it's quite cute actually. I love that it's rounded & coconut-like. They implemented the grass/flying combo well. I have absolutely no idea where they're going to go with the final evo though... I hope it's not a Prinplup situation where it just gets ... Elongated. All I'm imagining is Empoleon with a giant Bow instead of a tuxedo. It'll be interesting.
Papsmear is hideous. It's the only water starter I've ever disliked. The nose. The frill. The circus theme. Just... Bleh.
I do believe it'll have an awesome final evo though. I'm picturing a seal-like creature that stands & juggles/throws bubble-balloons.
The region looks wonderful - so refreshing not to have a focus on big cities. I've always preferred the tropical/nature focused settings.
Love the Hawaiian flavor & the implementation of the volcanoes - hopefully this means a good handful of fire Pokemon as they always seem to be lacking in every new gen.
The legendaries are an abomination. So much potential wasted. Serving Neopets realness.
Eh... I guess the Moon legend is some sort of talisman or Moon fairy. I'm warming up to it. Dark/Fairy?
The Sun legend needs major refinement. Too much going on - looks tacky & fake. Fire/Dragon?
