The GP don't care about singers. They could not give 2 single ***** and that's the God honest truth. All they care about is getting music that they can bop too. It does not matter one single bit who the artist. An example, Chris Brown. The GP constantly drags him to the pits of hell yet Loyal was a huge hit. Gaga isn't the problem here, the music is, whether you like ARTPOP or not, the GP obviously doesn't and that's all there is to say about it. It haas nothing to do with the BTW era or anything of the sort. The GP don't care about album eras like we do. I bet if you asked some random person what album was Rihanna's song "Diamonds" on, they wouldn't have a clue because the DON'T CARE. If Gaga wants to get another hit all she has to do is make music that the GP will like and she's ****ing sorted

This is kinda true, but an artist's name does have an impact on a song's popularity. Take Bieber for example. He has a big fanbase, but the GP sees his name and runs in the other direction.
Y'all underestimate Gaga tbh. She's still well liked by the GP. Applause and DWUW are indicators of that. People just didn't want anything to do with ARTPOP album
Not true. GP wasn't exposed enough to ARTPOP to dislike it. Also a lot of people were influenced by the media/critics after it came out and never even gave it a chance and just jumped on the hate bandwagon.

All of this, of course. But I wouldn't want her to sink to the lows of some of the music charting right now to get a hit. She should keep her artistic integrity and individuality whilst still writing music that appeals to the masses. Born This Way has sold 6 million+ copies, right? Because Born This Way, Judas, TEOG and You and I are catchy and the latter two appeal to the masses because they are relatable. And yet, they are still uniquely Gaga because they push the boundaries where their production is concerned. And that is what I want from Gaga. She needs to push the envelope a bit more and not be so damn scared.
Lol at people not caring who the singer is. Gaga is at that point of her career where even if she delivers a catchier song than PF it would probably be paid dust just because it is Gaga.

These 2 combined tbh.
The GP don't care about her previous music, they care about what is in the present. And well, she has been pretty weird a couple of months ago. And the GP doesn't understands why. That's why they judge her, not because of BTW I think.
I was looking at an old ~dream Born This Way era~ gifset I made:
and I was thinking about how if this happened, probably little to none of what was created for ARTPOP would exist.
If the Born This Way era was super successful, then she never would've created any of the 'fall of the blonde' material. Which means she would've never made the 'rise of the phoenix' material. And with her time having to be distributed between promoting the album and the tour, who knows if she would've ever made the Born This Way Ball castle, or noticed Helen Green, or anything that would've created the 'disney high princess' aesthetic. idk it's weird
I really disagree with the fact that the GP doesn't care about Gaga the brand or Gaga the image. That's why she took the world by such a huge force back in 2009/2010. It wasn't just the music . . . it was her. It was the entire character that she created that people latched onto.
Finally someone who stans for quality performances
Most of the people in here haven't even seen that show live/didn't even stan back then I really did love that show, it was amazing for other reasons than the BTWBall, back then she was much more of a mystery and she seemed more genuine/original and like she had more fun

The truest post here right now. I love ARTPOP, but yeah if she wants a hit she'll have to write good/better relatable music.
I don't get why fans love this specific Fame Ball performance of Paparazzi so much. It's good, but it's definitely not the best of the tour. For me, her vocals are literally everything in her Fame Ball performances of Paparazzi. As such, I think the below performance is better than the one at the 2009 V Festival.
Also, I'm so thankful she pitched down Paparazzi again for the artRAVE, Her voice sounds far more confident and is far stronger.
The GP is so unpredictable. You don't know what they would or would not like. It's a hit or miss for artists like Gaga who change their musical style each era and not release 15 singles that all sound like each other for the sake of #1s. The problem is not Gaga's music, it's just the majority's music taste and secondly how people get influenced by the media easily.
Just an example; Applause and TEOG sold the same amount despite the latter having more longevity on radio, therefore more radio support, more performances, more hype and less negativity around Gaga. That, by no means, means that Applause is a better song than TEOG, yet it was received better by music buyers.
