I've never thought a Taylor Swift thread could be THIS messy
I don't like 1989, I think she lost some her unique style in this album.
Her songs in the past were stories, in 1989, hits instead.
I still remember how State of Grace amazed me, I can even have a vision with the song.
But I can't do the same with any songs in 1989.
But she's totally deserves all the success she has now, she's really talented and also a hard working artist.
She deserves the respect.
When it comes to the whole Britney first week sales you also have to remember albums are WAY more frontloaded now, the adjustment factor (if you even want to go there) is different for first week sales than it is for overall sales.
Oops ended up selling 7.8 times its first week. In today's marketplace, a similar album might sell 3-4 times its first week, maybe even less, especially if it opens with massive numbers. Red only sold 3.2 times its first week, and that was with holiday sales. An album's potential buying public is drastically reduced nowadays, but people from that reduced audience pool rush out more than they did in the past. Applying that to Oops!, it's pretty obvious to anyone who was aware of pop culture in 2000 that with Britney's levels of hype and exposure an album in Oops!'s situation today would also do 1m+, but it would burn out a lot faster and end up with 3-4m.
So, she's the proof the music industry can be saved yet...or maybe she's the only one that can make these kinda records. I'm impressive, congrats, Lord.

I don't agree. That's the entire point of 1989. It's still the Taylor Swift stories/lyrics with a more pop production. I Wish You Would for example. Or All You Had to Do Was Stay are great examples. Typical Taylor guitar ballad lyrics but they are more upbeat produced on 1989.

Yup! However, these sales do not count in her debut week, as Billboard only accept albums that are sold above $3.99 for the first four weeks an album is released.

Looks like the estimate has stayed between 1.1-1.2M from HDD today, unless they update later in the night.
Nah. They still have to give a top 15 update which is supposed to be here by now but they're 45 or so minutes late , once thats here then we'll know if they stayed the same or not ....

i really don't mind if she beats Brits or not (it seems non Taylor and non Britney stans care about this more than their stans do) i just want her to out-do Red
, once thats here then we'll know if they stayed the same or not ....
