I think y'all need to think about how many people were going to die if something alike truly happened. And how many years it would take to bring peace back and rebuild their economic state?
Y'all hide behind the so-called democratic expressions, when all your intentions are just islamophobic.

Obviously, all of this is awful, but at the end of the day, if there's actually someone fighting for secularism and progressive views somewhere, I WILL support them. I'm not saying more revolutions and war should come, but if they do, that's who I'm supporting.

It's far more complex and I'm sure if people researched they'd realise that actually a coup isn't the answer and despite the current leaders problems, the people voted him into the role. Who are we to disapprove of that.
Remember the Nazi coup in 1923? Bigger picture..

True I guess, that's why I'm still uncertain about supporting the military.

I'm crying

ANYWAY. The footage of military killing multiple people with a tank, reminiscent of the truck attack in Nice proved to me that martial law isn't the problem solver!
To me, that's more scary given the military wears uniform, protects the people, isn't some nut job on a mission allegedly supported by ISIL..

same, but if those people in the military were truly secularists and not Erdogan's plan to gain even more support because what they did is not something how a secular, at least not here, would act as

It's not how things should be done at all.

This tbh.
This is real life. People should never support the "fight fire with fire" ways. Those are innocent lives we're talking about here. No matter what are the intentions of those military groups, they're risking another civil war, which would make more problems than solving theirs.
As you said, people should wake up and realize that history is repeating itself in many ways. Members here should educate themselves and quit the blind-democratic supporting.

The issue isn't having a different point of views, it's things like the support of dictatorship like what you did last page.

I do like the idea of a secular turkey, but im just sad that it would probably lead to the decrease of islam in Turkey!
As a muslim, its just sad that people will lose their connection to the quran...something atheists cant really get, maybe?
But dont get it twisted,I like secular countries and Im thankfull that my parents immigrated to the Netherlands!

Erdogan is ready to sacrifice hundreds of Turks to shout "allahu ekber" and attack the tanks with sticks. Attaturk knew the importance of secular military and that's why he made them to protect the country from going more extreme and more Islamic because he knew the low mentality of people who live there and want secularity and democracy dead. I feel so sad for the minority of Turks who are progressive and secular. I just hope Turkey doesn't become the new Iran or Saudi because it's too close to Europe.

Erdogan did not force anyone to go out to shout anything. They all went out by their will. And generally muslims don't consider Iran or any shia to be a part of the islamic nation, considering their very different point of views regarding our god & our prophet and so don't compare them please.
