Technichally -- Bye Bye, Obsessed, #Beautiful, and AIWFCIY have been hits.
And TGIFY was Top 20 on radio, so how did it have no radio support? In 2000 it was becoming an occurence for people to be in Top 20 + release Physical singles then shoot up to #1 / Top 10.
Yeah, Top 20....for a #1 hit? LOL. How does that make any sense? It went to #1, fell off and was forgotten forever in a few months. I would actually say Obsessed was bigger.
BB and #Beautiful did alright but nothing significant. I wish the latter had been huge, though. It truly is her best in a long, long time. And now that new record ain't ever coming out, not with JD producing it. :/
Why didn't Britney do any live performances? She should have done the AMA's to promote Vegas and her new album. One good and energetic Britney performance alone would be all the hype/press she would need. 3 mins of arm dancing and miming is really not hard.
It probably has something to do with Vegas. She tried to perform last era when she couldn't care less about the album and she seems more into it this time.

Britney performing = decrease in sales, tons of negative attention, even less people buy tickets for Vegas = all around fail.

The Army said that promo would have made Brit sell less. Good thing she didn't overpromote because then she may not have cracked 100K.

In general now, ofcourse a song only being Top 20 on radio would be odd to see at #1 on Hot 100 but in 2000 that was an occurrence. It was just the state of the industry.
Say My Name jumped #14 to #1 on Hot 100.
Music jumped from #14 to #2 on Hot 100.
etc, etc.
TGIFY happened to be #22 on Hot 100 and jumped to #2 then #1 with Physical Sales out despite being #15 on Airplay. It wasn't something out of the blue at the time, y'all always try to make Mariah look more fishier than she was.
1. Garth Brooks (Pearl) 145-155k
2. The Robertsons (EMI Nashville) 110-120k
3. Britney Spears (RCA) 110-120k
10. Katy Perry (Capitol) 40-45k
Miley
Gaga
so these are the standards now. Pop girls are hitting a new low, SERIOUSLY I give them two more albums before their career is over.
