Yeah, the US chart > UK chart by far. US actually showcases popularity from the moment a song is released... as a chart is suppose to.

Having a song on pre-order for 2 months while it's one of the most popular songs in the country, then it being released and debuting on the charts far after it's been out and popular makes no sense.

& UK #1's have no value because of that. It's basically comes down to being smart about how long a single is on pre-order, and releasing during a right week. Lots of those songs that go #1 / Top 5/ Top 10 have huge downfalls after their first weeks, too and weren't nearly that big, even though a two month pre-order tried to make it reflect as if it was during that week.

But then again, songs like "Price Tag" which followed the "On Air, On Sale" tactic proved that songs can be #1 and huge sellers if released as early as the song hits the net. I don't know why more record labels won't follow this strategy, it seems way smarter sales-wise.
