Rumored Twist for MvGX
Source
Quote:
While the season will start with two tribes of ten, Millennials (Vanua) and Gen X (Takali), at some point those two tribes will split into three tribes. Survivor: Cambodia – Second Chance first introduced this twist when, after two regular tribal councils, the Bayon and Ta Keo tribes divided into three, and six castaways were sent to the new, third Angkor beach. One would assume that the split will happen at 18 castaways again in Millennials vs. Gen X, but that is unconfirmed as of this moment. Production might want to draw the theme out longer, so the three tribe split could happen later into the season (perhaps at 15 castaways).
The third tribe Ika Bula, which means “turtle” in parts of Fiji, will wear green. On islands such as Yanuca, the Islanders have a special relationship with turtles, holding them in reverence as their ancestral gods.

I'm happy they're bringing this back from Cambodia.
I just hope that they don't leave them at a disadvantage this time.
Off-topic: I'm so ready for this to start. Big Brother has been such a disappointment this year and I need some good reality television to watch.

I haven't watched BB since Tiff left Truly tragic. I was hooked to BB16 for even longer.
I can't wait either.

After watching The Australian Outback, re-watching Cambodia, and reading Jeff Varner's AMA + some other silly research, he has become one of my all time favorite castaways
Rooting for him in S34. I'm rooting for so many

Wait... I hate that twist. It makes for people playing all over the place like in Cambodia and really no character development

I think the problem with Cambodia's version of it was that it wasn't edited well. That's actually the problem with Cambodia in general, I think.

Cambodia also suffered from a crappy boot order and casting issues, too. The problem with returning players and campaigning for votes is that it makes for a cast that's too camera-conscious. They were already so aware of the process that it lessened the chance of any good character moments. Just a bunch of game bots.

What's wrong with Aubry though?
Also, Hannah seems great, so I'm rooting for her!

We've had Shirin Aubrey and Hannah three seasons in a row. Their archetype is overkill already
OT: Rachel seems like the only non terrible Gen X member. Come through Michelle 2.0

Also, Josh Wigler (Parade) released interviews for both Paul and Michaela.
Quote:
Twenty-four hours before embarking on an eleven-hour flight to Fiji, the twenty cast members of Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X suffer through one final pre-game gauntlet: talking to me.
It’s a late March afternoon when I start my phone calls with the contestants of Survivor‘s 33rd season. I’m in New York and they’re in Los Angeles, shacked up in an airport hotel, not allowed to interact with one another, strictly forbidden from contact with the outside world, subsisting solely on room service and basic cable. I know nothing about the theme of the season, and I know nothing about the contestants, except for grainy head shots and bios provided to me by CBS. The bios have since been updated. At the time I’m reading them, some are robust. Others are thinner than the winner on Day 39. It’s not a lot to go on, but it’ll have to be enough to survive the next four hours of what’s essentially the Survivor interview equivalent of speed dating.
Up first: Paul Wachter, the season’s elder statesman at 52 years young. The Generation X tribe member works as a boat mechanic and treasure hunter (more on that in a bit) in Florida, but originally hails from Long Island — more specifically, my hometown. He also says the words “roger that” enough times to make Keith Nale do a spit take. The comparisons between Paul and the Season 29 and 31 fan-favorite end there, at least for now. During our eight minute chat, Paul talks up his physically intimidating presence, how he can read people on sight, and how he expects to be cast in a villainous light, describing his potential play style as “opportunistic.”
“I’m either going to be the first one voted out,” he says, “or I’m going to win.”

For Michaela Bradshaw, surviving Survivor is going to come down to a few key factors: a little bit of luck, a few deals here and there, and keeping her eyebrows from telling too much.
“My face is very telling,” the 25-year-old says with a smile you can hear over the phone, during our eight-minute call the day before she and the cast of Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X fly out to Fiji for their 39-day adventure. Based on her own self-assessment, Michaela does not suffer fools easily — and Survivor is a game filled with fools and foolish decisions.

Josh Wigler's interview with Michelle:
Quote:
Every single castaway during the Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X press day talks about their plans going into the game, their personal strengths and weaknesses, their reasons for playing. But only Michelle Schubert tells me about the dragons.
We get into a conversation about the mythical fire-breathing beasts thanks to the hobbies section of her bio, which reads:
I love learning and reading and dancing. I seek beauty, adventure and adrenaline. I like nature, exploring, rock climbing, slacklining, and CATAN expansions. I also study dragons and the stars.
As a professional Game of Thrones nerd, I’m intrigued, so I ask her to tell me more. And she does. Michelle schools me on the subject of dragons, while also describing herself as a “skeptic at heart,” simultaneously connected to a greater power and passionate about possibilities she hasn’t yet encountered.
“I’m not afraid of new information and new circumstances,” she tells me with confidence. “I’m very inviting of the unknown.”

Gordon Holmes's interview with Mari:
Quote:
Gordon Holmes: You are a YouTube gamer and I am an old man.
Mari Takahashi: (Laughs)
Holmes: So, explain to me what exactly that is.
Takahashi: I play video games at home. I yell at my screen, get angry, have fun. And apparently people like to watch that on the internet. It’s a strange new career that is available to millennials apparently.
Holmes: I like to play “Excitebike.” How do I get someone to pay me to do that?
Takahashi: There’s actually a lot of retro gamers out there.
Holmes: Sign me up!
Takahashi: (Laughs)
Holmes: “Survivor” has evolved into a game where deceit almost can’t be avoided. What is your approach?
Takahashi: I’ll approach this like I do any game, pretty much without emotions. My objective is winning, but I also want to have fun. You can call it manipulation, you can call it all of these things that have a negative connotation, but at the same time; is strategy something that has a negative connotation? They’re just words. It’s just playing the game. And I think I have a huge advantage because I don’t get too emotional over these things. We all know what we’re signing up for.
Holmes: But you do get emotional playing video games.
Takahashi: I hate losing. I’m not getting emotional because somebody took a headshot on me or beat me. I’m emotional because I didn’t win. I think there’s a difference in getting emotional when someone lies to you and taking it for what it is, a game.
Holmes: Do you get emotional when people lie to you?
Takahashi: No. Especially in this setting. It’s part of the game.
Holmes: If there is a twist, any guesses as to what it could be?
Takahashi: I think it could be Millennials vs. Generation X or Baby Boomers. But, I haven’t seen any old people. Or, maybe because I’m a gamer it will be tech people vs. traditional jobs vs. corporate. I think my profession and my age has something to do with this casting.
Holmes: I shouldn’t tell you this, but everyone there is a video game playing ballerina.
Takahashi: Damnit! I thought I was the only one.

Jeff spoke about a twist with the idols to Dalton Ross:
Quote:
Of course, the cast is not the only thing that’s different. There will be a new twist in play when it comes to hidden immunity idols that this time will be hidden in plain sight. “One of my favorite twists is what we do with the idols,” says Probst. “Somebody had an idea on how to hide idols in nature and it’s brilliant. And it’s really fun because you’re going to get a clue and it’s gonna say, yes, there’s an idol somewhere down here amongst these shells. Good luck. And you’re gonna look out on a beach full of shells and you will not be able to figure out which one has it. How could a shell possibly have an idol? You just gotta work. You gotta think.”
Probst says it is exactly the type of adventure that should get viewers of all ages excited. “It’s going to be so fun for the audience because it triggers that desire to play. You’re going to find yourself going ‘Oh my God! That looks so fun to do that!’ And that’s what we’re always striving to do — to not only appeal to the 40-year-old dad, but the 10-year-old son who’s going, ‘Dad, do you think it will still be on when I’m 18?’ Maybe.”
And once again, Mother Nature will come into play. While the milder temperatures of Fiji mean you will not have a season-long assault as in Cambodia for Kaoh Rong, expect a big event that Probst is billing as a first for the show. “Fortunately, we do not have the same kind of weather that we had in Cambodia,” says the host. “But I will tease you that early on, believe it or not, weather does play a part in the show, and you will see the part it plays, and it’s a first. And it was scary. But it works out alright.”
