Gaga never said she wrote the song She said she co wrote and produced.
Because she did
The whole orchestra in the song is because of Gaga.
DIane's version was supposed to be a piano led ballad
Gaga's version is something incredibly different.

Posting this again for all the pressed. This is how the song was supposed to be (And Gaga still contributed to that, but then she was like **** this, the song needs to be more agressive)

Insider?
But you're not gonna believe the person who was in the damn studio with lady agag when the song was being composed? V logical, makes a lot of sense

Okay, but I said she didn't actually write the song. Changing one line =/= writing the song.
I'm just saying that what Linda said is right.

I hope you do know there's a lot more to composing a song than just songwriting right?
And i also hope you do know that those nominated for Best Original Song are composers AND songwriters of that particular nominated song.

Gaga never claimed to have WROTE the song by herself in the first place. She got credits for writing because Diane gave her credits for her lyric contribution. Changing one line or the title does equal a credit, because again, if someone doesn't give credit, complications can arise and legal battles can happen. It's the business. Hence why pop songs have near double figure number of writers nowadays.
But Linda is forgetting that Gaga's credits, excusing songwriting, are still perfectly valid because of her contribution to the music of the song.

Yeah, that's what Linda said. Linda said that Gaga did not write the song when some fan told her she did.

writing credits = COMPOSING the song which is why composers AND songwriters get nominated.
Just because y'all dont like Lady Gaga, that won't change the fact it has always been like that

If this is true (even if Gaga didn't co-write it and JUST produced it) then what Linda did was extremely cheap cause Gaga still is eligible for this Oscar. Gaga should not talk about it until the Oscars and after the Oscars she should DRAG her

What do you think about this (to which Gaga also contributed musically, but later she decided to elevate the song to a whole different sound)

What do you think about that ?
What do you think about Gaga including a whole orchestra in the song with Guitars, Violins and so on ... ?
It's a "Minor" contribution ?

No shade but for people bringing up "Listen" from Dreamgirls - The people involved with that song were a lot, and the Academy gave the nomination to the ones who contributed the most of it. Which, for some reasons didn't include Beyoncé.
Also, go get a look at Diane Warren's songs. She is, for the majority of them, listed as the only contributor to the song lyrics and arrangement. Why would she decide to give Gaga, a person with whom she has never collaborated with beforehand, a co-writing ? This makes no sense. Diane is not a kind soul, she is known for being a very serious worker and a woman with firm manners. I'm sure if Gaga didn't contribute to the song she wouldn't have given her the credit.
Linda is probably referring to lyrics. She said Gaga changed only one line (and when you look at Simple Song #3, for example, a 10-word change is a big deal) but we already knew this. What's been told is that Gaga re-composed it. DIANE SAID IT! And that's a writing contribution.
And lastly, if they ultimately win, I'm sure Diane would not feel very happy knowing that the dream of her life was realized due to the presence of an influential pop-star. If she didn't feel like a credit was due, she wouldn't have given it.
And anyway: Academy officially declared: "Music AND lyrics by Diane Warren AND Lady Gaga". This is not the case with every song. When lyrics and music are from different people this is listed and the statuette reports your contribution when you win. Oscars are no joke.

I think it's really stripped and beautifully simple.
What I'm trying to say, what Linda said about Gaga not writing the song (as in lyrics) is true. Putting this here again: changing one line =/= writing the song.

We got that the first time you posted that. I don't see the need to keep repeating this.
The nominees are NOT nominated just for their songwriting. There's more to that.

(She's one of my absolute icons but that's not so much for her music, even if I like it a lot. Actually, TIHTY was one of my favorite 2015 soundtracks, cried when I heard it )

But did I say that Lady Gaga doesn't deserve her nomination though?

Then there's no reason to keep repeating this because all I'm getting for your posts is that you don't feel she's the songwriter therefore she doesn't deserve the nomination regardless of whether you expressed that in writing or not.

Writing lyrics does not equal writing a song But keep embarrassing yourself. And I am glad you like this stripped down version, to which Gaga also contributed.

Composing is the production credit. Gaga compsed and produced the track by herself on piano. They credit the songwriters AND the producers, hence "music and lyrics". Gaga has credits on both.
|
Composing is creating the melody, which is part of songwriting along with writting lyrics. Look at instrumental songs, songwriter is the one who created the melody, producer can be an entirely different person.
Producing = arranging, mixing and mastering the sound of already created melody/song.
