There are two distinct levels of esoteric interpretation in Donatella which interact within the nexus of art and pop in order to portray an image of a woman who is constantly writhing between the values of fashion, vanity and humanity. In a generalised sense, the song deals with the appropriation of social misconception and the transformation of this character adulteration into a sense of self empowerment and personal strength in a climate of negativity and hate. At first, the song may seem like a scathing criticism of Donatella Versace, with lyrics such as "I'm blonde, I'm skinny, I'm rich, and I'm a little bit of a bitch" establishing an abrasive, cold persona that is commonly linked to the archetypical celebrity. However, would you critic Donatella Versace if yourself were not Donatella Versace? Clearly, Lady Gaga is not Donatella Versace, and therefore she does not critic Donatella Versace. A deeper interpretation of the lyrics which tangles with the metaphysical interface of art and pop involves the introspective metamorphosis of negative misconception into a message of empowerment, harnessing the power of misrepresentation and allowing it to manifest itself as a being that exists beyond the rancourous exaggeration of the blonde celebrity stereotype- a woman who radiates her magic even though she's misunderstood. Donatella. Voodoo voodoo. Voo-don-na-na. ARTPOP.

You cannot simply hear or read the lyrics and expect to immediately understand them. Undeniably, you must feel them, live them and experience how the time and effort put into the song's construction in order to unveil the song's esoteric meaning. Once you're able to truly grasp the concept of how she represents the unspoken opposition between these two levels of interpretation, then you'll truly understand the meaning of ARTPOP.

When you're
lonely, I'll be lonely too,
And this is the fame.
Love and art,
12-18 1974.

We don't discuss the definition of art, hon.
It's just the album is not under the category of art pop.

Why must atrl create the same threads over and over again? This trying to drag Gaga and her ideas is getting really old really quickly.

I guess I unraveled the mystery: the title means that literally EVERYTHING else is Artpop but this album. That's why you constantly label other songs as "the real artpop!1" when basically anything could be Artpop (as Gaga said), except for this album and it means that the album just isn't "anything" (as in something you would just casually listen to) but probably "everything". Lol well at least to Gaga.

Yeah I have an idea.
It's because it's not about you, it's about her. ARTPOP is Gaga's own concept and it's whatever she wants it to be.
Edit: wait not this thread being old af. Stop bumping old threads
