I've said this a lot on ATRL. Pink is just this normal, down-to-earth chick who happens to be a pop star for a living. She's a pop star by career and not by character. If you saw her at the grocery store, you'd be like "OH MY GOD YOU'RE PINK!" and she'd be like "haha yeah man, what's up?" and then you'd just stand there and have a conversation about her kid. Whereas other pop stars would send someone else to do their grocery shopping, or they'd be surrounded by like 4 giant bodyguards.
She's way too humble and gracious for her own good. She has absolutely NO ego or attitude. She's the anti-diva. And people like Madonna are renowned for having a bit of an ego, and being a diva. It's what makes them a next-level celebrity and pop culture icon. Pink is just that really cool, friendly girl. She's the anti-pop star.

ughh stop making me love you even more

Yeah it's not like she tweeted it out of nowhere.
Besides when Kanye talking **** about her leaked she told everyone to calm down and that everything is fine.
Class act tbh

Gaga has been making dance music for her albums why don't i see this in her threads?
Her trademark is her genre of music and her aerial performances.
Search for the P!nk's impact and legacy thread for more information based on what critiques (professionals) said about her.

Indeed one of the most recurrent critiques towards ARTPOP is the fact that it's EDM, but even in that album there are loads of musical experiments, I just don't hear that in P!nk's music. Her genre isn't typical of her, there are many other pop-rock artists, her acrobatics are, but they are only discussed for a few days when they occur, and aren't enough to build a solid status.

Just bc she isn't always on the spotlight doesn't mean she is irrelevant or "just stand there"..
The numbers don't lie and her longevity is on par with Eminem, Beyonce and JT

This is something you could have handled in your PMs. Why bring it back to this thread?

That title belongs to Madonna and I don't think P!nk cares about those titles.

hm she's worked with linda perry, pretty much brought her back into the limelight as a producer (and everybody else wanted a piece of her afterwards). she's also worked (as a "pop mainstream girl") with tim armstrong. she revolted against her label who didn't want her to work with linda or release m!ssundaztood because at the time her style WAS too left-field and too experimental. she pretty much set the trend for other pop girls to be a bit more authentic and darker in their lyrics.
i think when it comes to music, she just likes every genre because her voice just fits everywhere. jazz, soul, rock, rnb, pop, etc. she might have been a little too comfy with the poprock sound as of late, but she will be back with other sounds i'm sure. she still wants to record her selfish acoustic rock record, and if you listen to her acoustic songs, free and when we're through, you know that it will be amazing.
she's like the soulful rock folk singer who's stuck in the pop world.

I was joking. I realise the circumstance.
I do think P!nk deserves more, other artists are praised to the high heavens and Alecia is overlooked a lot. I mean, like, where is Vanguard or something of the same merit? It's not like she or her fans long for it, but I think she deserves it.

They do inspire discussion for serious issues, Stupid Girls inspired discussion, Dear Mr President inspired discussion without even being a single - I can't @ yall denying her whole carreer like she has been some flop one hit wonder all these years that nobody cares for.
|
I mean, they inspired discussion YEARS after the release. I mean, Dear Mr. President's lyrics are in a history/english book, and asking students questions, how isn't that inspiring discussion

Or the member could have kept it in here.
Anyways, Her discography is full of generic Pop/Rock songs and lacks any other genre experimentation. That's it.

She's just got a wax figure which is up in the air, I guess that's means something.
And calling ARTPOP experimental. Let's not.

Not you judging her ENTIRE discography when you don't even know what Get The Party Started is.

To me it's pointless and holds no merit since ALL the major pop girls, aside from P!nk have been called the QoP. I'm just wondering, giving her statistics, why she has been thrown in the ring for this over used and abused title.
My whole point it, she has everything the other girls have. Whether she flaunts her celebrity or not shouldn't matter.
|
But Beyonce is also a brand. P!nk has said so many times she really doesn't want the fame. She is just after "making people cry during tours".

Hence why she inspired to Oprah to talk about Stupid Girls phenomenon on her show and called her the smartest pop star.

Ok, first like i said P!nk's first 3 eras, first being R&B, second being more like mix of R&B, Pop and Pop/Rock and her third album being a complete rock album with mixes, punk rock, pop rock, acoustics, and rock in general, are VERY experimental
Her 4th album was a social album about social issues and her own personal problems, Stupid Girls, Dear Mr President, a song about her being raped when she was young by a cop (apparantly)
and Who Knew deals with death, & many others, and it came back to her pop and pop rock genre like M!ssundaztood
Her 5th album was after her divorce and mainly about break ups and broken hearts.
The Truth About Love is about her happy life: the life with a husband, and a kid, her own family.
She has taken risks, with her music and with her songs.
If you haven't listened to her albums you might say her signles have been the same for the last 3 eras: 1st an uptempo song: RYG, So What and BMOLK, then mid tempo than ballads but saying that she hasn't experimented is really an ignorant thing to say, i'm sorry

Have you even listened to a full P!nk album or two? Because your previous posts would suggest that you don't really know much about her discography.

People should realize that P!nk is making the music she's having the most fun with and that's it. She's writing what's on her mind, gives you honest lyrics and nice tunes and people still love it because she's real as it gets. She's just having fun to get paid.

She doesn't have impact, and she's absent from the media.
Beyonce and Britney are huge celebrities, that's why everything they do it's maximized and they seem bigger. While I consider Pink more talented that Beyonce and Britney, her lack of media presence is what sets her as an underdog. Also her image is not as appealing as Britney's and Beyonce's.

i dunno, it always seemed like she had a decent amount of media coverage to me, or at least not much less than the others...i guess she just doesn't want to be a pop star? i mean, she has said some things along those lines in her songs. maybe it requires more effort to be relevant than i thought.
