Yes. No one knew it was coming, no one expected to be purchasing the album on Dec. 13 and people did so out of interest. There is no promo of the album coming from Beyonce or her team.

This is TRUE definition of no promo. While the Army runs around crying no promo for BJ even though she did almost a dozen interviews and radio spots. WTF is the difference? Besides Bey actually selling I mean.

I'm not the one hobbling around screaming "No promo" after my fave did the SuperBowl, a $50 million promotional campaign with Pepsi, an H&M campaign, etc. This idea that Beyoncé hasn't been out there and her music release was completely out of the blue is idiotic. We knew it was slated for November 19th and wouldn't be too far away. Yes, her release on a Friday was a surprise as was releasing the album only digitally, but she's still been everywhere this year.

No, this isn't under a normal kind of release. There is definitely some kind of unorthodox marketing going on her, which is promoting the album and spreading awareness of it virally. And she bought all the banners on iTunes too. I don't think I've seen that done before
