I don't understand Roc Nation or Interscope or some record label out there can't sign this girl. She's beautiful, sexy and very talented. With some promotion and good songs she would slay again as she did before

If JoJo could have just been bought out of the contract she wouldn't still be signed to them. She said before that it's not that simple and they basically won't agree to it.

I didn't know she spoke on that part before so excuse me as i had no idea.

I figured as much cause i said that probably isn't how it works just needed to know how this situation is going. So how long is this agreement until she can go somewhere else?

Last she said anything about it was in February during this online concert thing she had and she basically said there's a lot going on behind the scenes working towards getting out of the contract and label that she can't speak on. I don't think she'll be able to tell us anything until after she goes to court.

God I hope she can get out of this contract somehow. How disgusting is Barry Hankerson/Blackground. Let the poor girl GO. He knows she has the potential to be big again and his greed wont let him do the right thing. Imagine how IRON CLAD this contract must be? People get out of contracts all the time, relatively easily. This is just so sad. My heart hurts for her, I would be in a deep depression.

With the right material & support JoJo can become one of the top R&B/POP artists, it's a shame thou such a waste of a beautiful talent.

She needs a loaded label that is ready to pay whatever her label asks for, I remember when bruno had issues with his publisher and he wanted out because their contract gave them ownership of 50% of his released songs, he even sued them but it didn't work, then BMG came & bought his whole contract and now he's one of their artists.

The leaks, mixtapes and covers have definitely helped her. If it weren't for those songs leaking she might not even have the following she has now. A lot of people re-discovered her through the leaks. I did.

I was the exact same... I'd kind of forgotten about her then I saw some of her leaked tracks on a site one day, downloaded them and then instantly became a stan again

According to Blackground Records attorneys Rickey Ivie and Samuel E. Chilakos, the settlement requires Braxton to return to Blackground Records a $375,000 advance she received on December 27, 2006, and further provides for compensating Blackground Records by paying to it a percentage of the net sales of Braxton's next album. This settles in case no. 07/101323 filed in the County of New York. Blackground Records released Toni Braxton from her recording contract on January 10 of this year. Braxton immediately retaliated with a lawsuit filed in federal court. Braxton dismissed the federal lawsuit in response to an order of the Court advising her of its intention to dismiss the case unless she provided further justification of its basis. Braxton filed another lawsuit in New York State the same day, which attorneys for Blackground Records deemed to be absolutely devoid of any merit. When Barry Hankerson began working with Toni Braxton in 1997, he loaned her a substantial amount of money to assist her in dealing with a much publicized bankruptcy. As her manager, he negotiated a contract on her behalf with Arista Records that paid her an advance of $23,000,000. However, after only two albums, Arista released her from her contract. At Braxton's behest, Hankerson signed Braxton to Blackground Records, where she released only one of the three albums she committed to.

Maybe JoJo doesnt have the money she received as an advance and thats holding things up (back when she was signed labels still gave out HUGE advances) It has been foreverrrrr I could see how all that money has been spent.

It's honestly such a shame because me and Jojo are the same age and went through similar things in life at the same time, and it would have been nice to have her albums to see how she's grown up too. She's constantly meeting with her lawyer, so there are things going on behind the scenes that we don't know about. If it was as simple as taking them to court, they would've done it already like she did with Da Family Records, there must be something else there that they don't want to publicize.

I did not know any of this. I thought she was going to release something really soon. Is there a chance some other label can buy her contract? It can't be that hard, maybe if someone like Jay-Z gets involved.

Blackground wont let her go its not a matter of buying her out but the label setting her free.
Barry should take any money that is thrown at him since the label is in trouble he gets a nice amount and jojo is free everybody wins.
