Rihanna's songs and videos, while good, are extremely gimmicky. The whole S&M era was just begging for controversy. Her new album is all about shock factor through explicit sexual content.

I love the WFL video but it's clearly milking the Chris Brown incident - another gimmick.

I'm not sure she really understands the definition.

I've always felt that fashion was effortless for Rihanna and it set her apart....it never came across as gimmicky or over the top so I hope she's just saying this to bring attention to the music on the album as opposed to being an indication of where she's going in the future in terms of fashion...
