I don't understand attempting to act like beyonce isn't super involved in her work and just lets producers and writers do everything for her when damn near everyone she works with talks about how she takes over in the studio and brings out the best in them

I think her whole intention of the ST project was to bring attention back to the album. In the era where everyone was relying on shock tactics for that #1 single on itunes (Roar/Applause/Wrecking Ball/We Can't Stop/Work Bitch(:rip)), she managed to skip over them all with an entire album. I love her for that but not for influencing everyone else, including Rihanna, to create secret album campaigns. Some people thrive better in a typical single-release strategy. Bey's ST singles did ok for a time too, and it just strengthened her brand and power.
