As for the "he said he's not a homophobe" in that one tweet, I'll sorta give you that, since I mastered context clues back in the fourth grade (which was around the time he was born). But his following sentence "People can love who they want, it's none of my business" is NOT showing support for the gay community. I know plenty of people who pull the whole "love the sinner hate the sin" who use this logic to get around gays - as long as you're not gay around me we're cool.
That's not supporting gays. That's barely tolerating gays as people. Which is why people are rightly suggesting he spell it out loud in big massive letters (in a press release written by someone other than Liam) that he's not a homophobe. Saying it's none of his business is a very churchy way to dance around the issue without saying you're against homosexuality - it makes it seem like you're tolerant of their existence. And that's it.
Do I think he's homophobic? Probably not. Do I care? Not really. Should his Twitter account have a new password? Obviously, until he's mastered basic grammar.
