There's no such thing as "de-legitimizing" him. He's going to be in the office making decisions. Just like there was no "disqualifying" him in the election as he continued to run his campaign.

This isn't a monarchy. If he's consistently unpopular for credible reasons then he may find himself incapable of making any decision without significant backlash. Do you really think the Republicans would allow themselves to lose seats?

lol yeah I didn't even respond to him because he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about but even in American politics there is totally such a thing as a delegitimized presidency - this is where we get the concept of a President's "mandate" from. A President who gets a greater share of the vote has a stronger mandate than a President who gets a smaller share of the vote - and based on this Hillary has a much stronger mandate than Trump.

In fact, since Trump will have lost the popular vote by the highest margin of any President in US history - and since his voter coalition is extremely homogenous with ~90% of them being white - I would argue that he has the weakest mandate of any President-elect in American history

And a lot of people who voted for him, voted against Hillary. They don't even agree with all of his campaign promises. His only mandate is rejecting bad trade deals, and making fairer ones. THAT IS IT.

What sites / sources do yall get most of your political news from?

I mostly do New York Times and Washington Post, but I don't pay their subscription fees so I can only read a handful of articles per month. Although the News app on my iPad typically lets me read what I want to without it counting towards my "ten free articles this month!"

Media (and the associated consumption of it) is so toxic right now. People are only tuning in to channels/websites that are aligned with their own beliefs - particularly on the right-wing, it must be said.. but the left definitely have their pockets too - and not getting that neutral, objective (and sometimes even, truthful) perspective that media is supposed to provide.

The worst part is people blame the media for not doing this.. but why would they when taking such a neutral viewpoint is so unpopular nowadays. You've got to cater to both sides which are pulling themselves further and further apart.
