Yes, but in 2001/02 is when physical singles sales became the PITS and it was all airplay when it came to chart positions.

For God's sake, she topped Forbes right after that era, it was clearly not fading.

Since it was already #1 for 3 weeks on Single Sales, it was destined to climb quickly due to it being so low, and radio programmers looking at the Single Sales and giving it Airplay though.

I think that's actually how most of the singles from BOMT era went in Hot 100 Airplay to Hot 100 Single Sales comparison too.

Even with Single Sales dying by 2001/2002 and an airplay ban she still could've SNATCHED because apparently she didn't get really any Single Sales for IAS4U because it wasn't released as a CD Single. That's her label's fault for ****ing ha over not giving her a Single release after an Airplay ban.

That's true. Her label would limit physical single releases to benefit albums. That was why Oops! peaked so low.

Even if she did do a little snatching on Airplay in '01, it would've probably died down by '02 with the Urban takeover. "Toxic" was probably her best chance at an Airplay Smash over those 3 years and it barely made Top 10.

Awesome album, but the New Jack Swing/pop sound (one of the best sub-genres of the late '80s and early '90s) was TOO hard on that album, and it does sound like an album that needs to be remastered greatly. Funnily enough, its lesser (in terms of quality) Control has aged a bit better.

I think Prince's music has aged just fine. Everyone has those "Meh, this sounds old" songs, but a lot of Prince's stuff doesn't feel "nostalgic."

I personally love the sound of R&B late 80s to early 00s. So I don't mind the dated-ness. I find it attractive tbh.
