I feel like there are a lot of instances where I can't relate to "dated" being used as a criticism, like BOMT and the whole slew of other Max Martin bubblegum pop hits from the late 90s/early 00s.

They recall a certain time/sound that isn't current or in vogue, but so? What if I liked that time? What if I like that sound? If anything it only adds to the charm for me. I understand there's a virtue to be had in being able to "transcend" all that but meh.

She had no Airplay during the BOMT era and still smashed off sales, then when her sales flopped all of a sudden "it's because airplay".

The logic of blaming it on something she never had to begin with.

I didn't say I didn't like that sound or that time, otherwise I wouldn't have said I went back to Britney's hits (assuming you're directing this at me). I mean, I still use *NSYNC songs, but they're still sound horribly dated - like they need to be remastered or something.

The week "Baby One More Time" went #1 on Hot 100 it was #1 on Hot 100 Single Sales, and #41 on Hot 100 Airplay.

It's sales accounted for over 80% of it's chart points, the most in a few years.

The girl wasn't even Top 40 on Overall Airplay, she didn't need Airplay to begin with. She was just fading, point blank.
