This ain't '07 anymore when Britney actually did receive a lot of hate and it wasn't common knowledge that Kanye was a complete asshole. Most of his haters, especially those of the older generations, don't think he's talented at all. Critics don't represent the GP, and you know damn well that he receives way more crap than she does.

No one hates Katy Perry, they just don't think she is talented.

But my god, I've never seen a pop star have so many men wrapped around her finger. It's pretty awesome. God help the world if she wardrobe malfunctions, it would be absolutely legendary and blow everything any other pop star has ever done right out of the water.

An even larger portion of the population doesn't even know what that is, and "Gold Digger" was one of the biggest hits of the decade, so it's not like he was unknown before that album. Plus he already made himself a household name after that Katrina Special incident.
