Voting for Trump changes nothing about their current circumstances. The trade deals make it easier for us to export our good overseas. The problem is they are unable to compete with the likes Asia because they didn't educate and innovate. They need to take personal responsibility and stop looking for immigrants and trade deals to blame when white privialedge is far more valuable for getting jobs than anything else. The rust belt had a built in advantage and squandered it.

The rust belt sat on their butts and watched the rest of the world out innovate them in the manufacturing arena to the point it no longer made sense to do business in those areas. It is not going to change for a very long time. No amount of tariffs and other government intervention will make uneducated people ready for global competition.

It's not even innovation as much as it is wages. Profit maximization calls for minimizing labor costs. That means moving production to places like Bangladesh where you can pay people 10 cents an hour and not $7.25.
Hillary had options for these people. Tuition free/debt free college education to provide people with the ability to acquire skills to succeed in today's information based labor force and minimum wage increases, for instance. Anything but outright lying that she can bring long gone jobs back to the United States.
