I'll explain record label math when I get home in a minute but it benefits the record label to work with the big name producers. Artists don't make money off of albums they make it off of touring.
And in standard contracts, which I assume taylor is still under, the record label advances the artist for all of the promo but the artist has to pay the label back out of their portion of the royalties. :/ I said it before on here I'm pretty sure Speak Now didn't recoup because of all the promo they did and that's why Max Martin was brought on for this album.
