Such Swiftian lyrics. She totally owns it. Def not bland of all things.

Can Taylor Swift, who sold 1,1 mil copies of "Speak Now" in 2010, do it again with Red?
|

She can TBQH. Her songs play everywhere here in Aus.

No...i was not talking about that. I am pretty sure "SN" sold more than 1,1 mil in 2010. Even if they were talking about debut week (then they worded it wrong) it was still considerably less than 1, 1 mil. 53k less.
15 mil for all the "Red" promotions? BM is really going in....

Taylor's albums and singles sales will bring that back in rather quickly.

They'll make much more than that. They're selling lots of Red merchandise. Tons of it. And I'm sure Target, Wal-Mart, Papa Johns, etc. are paying for the majority of it.

They will recoup that back in 1 week.

But in record deals, assuming its pretty standard, TAYLOR has to BMR back out of her portion of the album sales.
So if an album makes 1,000,000, BMR gets 65% of that off the top. I don't know how much Taylor gets but lets say its 10%. Out of that 10% she owes BMR for any advance they gave her INCLUDING the promotion of the album, before she sees any of her part if the sales. BMRs 65% of the sales does not count towards that.
So yeah the album might make 10 mill right away, but the record label gets 6.5 million out of that, then producers etc get a cut and then Taylor has to pay back her advance/promtions/etc out of her cut.

No, they're done several Country songs before, including ''Last Name'' by Queen Carrie.

I don't know much about record deals but if this is true than it really doesn't pay that much to work with all those extra producers does it? On another note, I always thought that the label would be the ones to pay for the promo and not Taylor though.

K. So the album is on shuffle and none of the songs sound weaker than the others. Even the ones I like least are still good.

I'd be pissed if I were Taylor tbh. Knowing how much she made, yet still got so little.

She should collaborate with more enormously successful hip-hop/ rap artists to make a little pocket change.
