I think it would be nice to have SYG only be accessible to people with a certain number of posts, it'll help in weeding out the undesirables (newbies, trolls, etc).
It's time for a change. Those worked until they didn't. If SYG was used like it was envisioned, there would be no problem. Unfortunately people take it too far and now everyone is losing it. Good. There needs to be consequences. Now, if people can't learn to conduct themselves civilly, then they deserve all the points coming their way.
Good for the mods/admin team for considering eliminating SYG. Maybe it'll increase the quality of posts around here instead of the same old tired arguments.
Not everyone should have to suffer because a certain few people (Not referring to the Navy or Beyhive here) make SYG a place to say extreme things. Many people used SYG appropriately and could drag/shade without being outright, grossly offensive.
And you know it won't work that way. People have no where to vent their frustrations. They're more likely to make shade or trolling posts in other parts of the forum that are moderated and therefore disrupt a thread and get warning points. Closing SYG isn't going to increase peoples' post quality. It's just going to lead to more people saying SYG-typical things in other parts of the forum.
Just because a few newbies were causing chaos doesn't mean we should all get banned from the thread

That was the same logic for wanting to keep NHB. "People need a place to vent their frustrations with other members," well they got over it pretty quickly. The point is, if people don't know how to post your criticisms/frustrations without being shady/rude/disrespectful/hateful, then maybe ATRL isn't the place for them anymore.
If people disrupt threads, they'll get points and likely be banned from the thread. It's time people become more mature about stuff anyway. The ATRL team has put a lot into bringing the board up, the least we can do is respect their decisions and try to make the board a better place.

People use it, often, and almost daily. If SYG was crawling, and almost always being off-topic, then I could understand closing it for the same reasons NHB was being closed.

Since that was allowed in the thread (You can blame the moderators for that one) and only one or two members were using dead babies (And actually managed to use it against the target celebrity in a way), it still was on topic.
