the outfits are there, the concept is there, and the imagery is there, you're just unable to move on from the past, she's not going to keep on beating that dead horse because that era of extravagance and avant guard imagery is tired and lost it's mystery, if you can't wrap your head around that, then you're just going to keep expecting things that are never going to come !
It's not about extravagance, it's about presenting your work in a way that's focused and interesting. It just looks like Stefani is pretending to be what she thinks is stripped down. Other artists like Bjork show it can be done.

"presenting your work in a way that's focused and interesting"
you're literally making no sense, I'd say she's more focused than ever and passionate about the music she's about to put out more than she ever was before because this record is personal, and I could beg to differ about the "interesting" part that's subjective and for someone that's forever wanting TF/TFM kind of sound / visuals your opinion is really tainted by nostalgia, she's not going to keep on rehashing and regurgitating the same **** over and over again ! and you need to be caught up with that fact sis !
People think Gaga always feels the need to top herself like Beyonce. She doesn't and that should be pretty clear by now. She's simply going to make the music and the visuals she wants. Beyonce is always going to try topping herself but where else can she go really after 2 back to back visual albums? The surprise factor for her is no longer surprising, and while the expectations are now high for Beyonce, Gaga can do anything she wants
The whole party scene is an illusion in itself right?
As it disappears at the end of the video... or am I looking too much into it?
I honestly think so too. She was performing for a crowd that was cheering her on and partying with her and singing along. Suddenly, she realizes it's all been an illusion and no one is really there. (a) A jab at some fans who only care for her success or (b) just a nice lowkey plot for the video.
I hate her and her fans but this video was good. I liked the angry, temperamental vibe of the video which captured this mess of a song perfectly. Good job Gags.
Glad you liked it though. For me, it's miles better than Applause and her other lead single MVs. Maybe it's the hype in me talking, but PI's MV is much more raw and intense, which is good.

Why are you even talking about Beyonce right now? Let Gaga shine
