Getting defensive because you thought I shaded Britney.
I mentioned Britney because Janet is one of her biggest inspirations. Despite how the media tried to make her only a "Madonna clone" simply because they are both white and blonde.
Please don't tell me your using Vevo views to gauge whether someone has memorable songs or not?
The continued...

Am i being defensive or am I stating a fact that you can't deal with? lol. We all know Britney was inspired by Janet's work?
and of course recurrent views can show well remembered a song/music video is (so do catalogue sales and spotify stats hihihihi). forgotten songs get barely any views and it's the opposite for songs that are remembered. Common sense????

I didn't shade Britney or say anything against her at all. You made it about Britney because you thought I was shading her.
Considering that Vevo and/or Spotify didn't exist at all when Janet and her contemporaries were in their prime. That's not a good gauge at all on what's memorable (A gauge of what's popular NOW, yes).
If that's the case, "Gangnam Style" is bigger than any song Janet, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, etc EVER put out... COMBINED!
Sure you don't want to re-think your statement?

I don't care if you were shading Britney..
I don't compare songs that peaked in the digital age to songs that peaked in the physical age - that would be unfair. Artists like Cyndi Lauper are more streamed and remembered than Janet and that's a more than fair comparison

The REACH. The GRASP at anything to deny Janet.

What I was trying to say is that Janet might be global during her time in the 80s (???) but none of her stuff is really iconic or memorable that would leave any impact for new generation that's why this generation doesn't know it unlike Madonna, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney who have memorable songs and impact.
I knew there was an artist named Janet because Britney cited her as one of her influence at the beginning of her career. If Britney never claimed that, I would never know Janet existed.
I have never heard a song from her and never saw her music video at all. I never heard people talk about her too At least in my country.

No Vevo is the best thing to use to consider what is iconic and memorable when it comes to old music music/videos from 80s, 90s, and early 00s. That's why MJ her brother has a lot of songs that reached 100m views. Artists like Bon Jovi and Aerosmith had at least a song passes 100m views and they peaked before youtube era too. You know why? Because they made impact and memorable things.

The first paragraph is simply untrue, and the second one is just unfortunate.
Your ignorance doesn't determine whether or not her music is memorable or iconic (which it is).
There are COUNTLESS artists who list Janet as an influence; Britney wasn't the first or the last.
Also, the reason the current generation is unaware of her us because of Nipplegate at the Superbowl and the blacklisting that followed/the fact that her last album was released in between Blackout and Circus.

She released 4 albums throughout the decade. This is why you shouldn't speak on things you don't know about.

If you didn't think I was shading Britney, you wouldn't have made that comment trying to bait Janet vs Britney battle.
Like, Madonna and few of her other contemporaries, Most of Janet's biggest hits aren't even on and/or available worldwide on VEVO.
I mean, if that's your argument, Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" which has nearly 130 million views is bigger and more memorable than ANY Madonna song (including "Vogue" on her official Youtube channel)
Again, sure you don't want to re-think your statement?

So Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, etc have more memorable songs than Madonna considering none of videos (even those on her official channel) have reached 100 million views, AND "Gangnam Style" remains the biggest song in pop music history. Glad we covered that.

Nope because Girls Just Want To Have Fun IS more remembered than most Madonna songs, but Madonna actually has classics whereas Janet doesn't.
Why would I want to rethink my statement when you've just proven my point that Janet is forgotten, was never a global monster and has no remembered songs whereas her peers have plenty?

Not just most Madonna song...more remembered than ANY Madonna song, based on VEVO/Spotify and your statement than Vevo/Spotify is a gauge of how remembered songs are.
Also, that would make Bon Jovi and Aerosmith BOTH more iconic than Madonna. Along with Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston,Celine Dion...all being more significant than Madonna based on your criteria.
Rick Astley's "Never Gonna Give You Up" is also more memorable than any Madonna song.
Rick Astley... CULTURAL ICON!!!
I guess Janet isn't in bad company as she joins Madonna with songs that aren't memorable, according to you.
