Its opening days were a very close (and certainly the only recent) parallel to Hello, honestly.

Hello should have more staying power than BTW though. I see Hello getting 3 500 k + weeks, and maybe another one or two around Christmas. I have nothing against Lady Gaga, as I hope she gets back to #1 on the Hot 100 with the opening track from her next album. Gaga's voice isn't as powerful as Adele's, but Gaga is a talented singer/songwriter/musician in her on right.

If Adele's still on top in late December, I wonder what kind of Christmas sales she can get...

I just meant the biggest single release of the century. Obviously everyone complained about the song and supposedly hates it and the wheels fell off, unfortunately.

Hello total sales will be underwhelming, CMA will destroy it.

Don't really know about the single, but I'm betting 25 opens over three million globally and sells over one million copies per week for the rest of the year.

Wow, why didn't she just wait and release it with the start of the tracking week.
She would've kept the record for almost 5 years, and would've been the second highest opening ever.
Oh well, she still has a #1 debut under her belt.

I think Hello will hold its own with CMA, but that obviously will take away some sales.

Gaga was smart because so many #1 debuts in a row had only lasted one week on top. BTW actually got a bullet on week 2, and then her label released a physical single that sold 24,000 copies to get the song a 6th week at #1. Gaga and her label knew what they were doing.

Good to see you Brian! Hope you're well. I need to respond to your wallpost when I get a chance.
And ah, that's true. In fact, doesn't Gaga have the record of most weeks at #1 after debuting at #1? 6 weeks right? well.. Not for long.

Ah, okay. Didn't realize OSD was a #1 debut. Slay Mimi.
So.. I guess that makes it the longest female, solo.. Running #1 debut this decade.
The fact that Hello may even stay 16 week at #1 with ease is scary though.

Don't forget Born This Way second week sales had the Lady Gaga Grammy Egg performance effect boosting them.

What evidence do you have that Hello will be lasting 4 months at number one? This song isn't gonna be selling like this for long. I realize how huge it's going to be in the long run, but I think it's too front loaded to last that long on top. Plus it's a first single. She has other singles to release lol

For comparison's sake, Shake It Off wasn't affected that much by CMA so Hello probably won't. A lot of people that bought the single through iTunes will be buying a physical copy of the album.
Rolling In The Deep managed to sell 8 million despite 21's sales, so Adele is a clear outlier when it comes to singles and parent album affecting each other.

Shake It Off would probably be at 5.5m sales, or near 6m. But I believe with CMA it sits below 4.9m now. Can someone confirm this?
Shake It Off, love it or hate it, is her biggest single, ever.
