I love Mariah, but she probably didn't make the list because she doesn't have many songs that she wrote by herself or for other people. But then again, she's also not a critics favorite.

The fact that Madonna is #5 female yet #56 overall says a lot about how terribly ignored women still are by critics Lots of women they could've included... Tracy Chapman? Fiona Apple? Debbie Harry? Kate Bush? Lauryn Hill? Just off the top of my head.
That being said... you can all can stop mentioning Mariah in this thread. I've literally never seen her recognized as some notable songwriter anywhere except ATRL

Mmm.... semi-accurate list tbh, there were many undeserving spots, or people that were too low. Taylor Swift is overrated, Gaga is easily a better songwriter than her.
On the other hand, Bjorn and Benny were too low @100. I mean, they are ABBA for God's sake!!! ABBA has the most perfect pop discography ever!!
Bjork deserved top 50, and I would give Prince a spot in the Top 10. Also disappointed at Mariah's snub.
