145 · CALVIN HARRIS f/ JOHN NEWMAN, "Blame"
Weeks on Chart: 4 Weeks
Peak Position: #12
Debut Date: September 27, 2014
Calvin Harris had an impressive run on my chart with the club-banging singles off 18 Months. This year, the produced followed it up with an interesting collaboration opposite soul singer John Newman. The tandem indeed put up a good effort in coming up with this smash track.
♫ "Can't you see it, I was manipulated by it. Too little to the dawn, I had no choice in this. I was a friend she missed. She needed me to talk." ♫

144 · LITTLE MIX, "Little Me"
Weeks on Chart: 6 Weeks
Peak Position: #05
Debut Date: December 28, 2013
Appearing for the second consecutive set is X Factor UK champ Little Mix. The girls became pretty experimental with their releases off their sophomore album. From the funky "Move" to the soulful "Little Me" to the anthemic "Salute". Compared to their previous effort, this one is just plainly okay.
♫ "Wish I knew back then what I know now. Wish I could somehow go back in time; and maybe listen to my own advice." ♫

143 · CODY SIMPSON f/ ZIGGY MARLEY, "Love"
Weeks on Chart: 2 Weeks
Peak Position: #14
Debut Date: February 22, 2014
Cody Simpson had a streak of under-performing singles on my chart and this one's not an exception. With its easy-breezy feel and soothing vibe, it's a shame this one charted so badly on my weekly countdown. Nevertheless, Cody's best effort next to "La Da Dee".
♫ "Age is nothing but a number; and my love lasts longer than the summer. So, let's move them haters up out of the way." ♫
2013: JASON DERULO, "The Other Side" |

142 · JASON DERULO f/ SNOOP DOGG, "Wiggle"
Weeks on Chart: 4 Weeks
Peak Position: #10
Debut Date: June 28, 2014
Ultimately one of the guilty pleasures for 2014. I've always been a fan of Jason's releases from "Whatcha Say" all the way to "Trumpets". However, this one seemed to be out of place. But despite its meh lyrics, you can't deny the fact that it somehow wiggled your playlist.
♫ "If I take picture while you do your dance, I can make you famous on Instagram." ♫

141 · ALESSO f/ TOVE LO, "Heroes (We Could Be)"
Weeks on Chart: 7+ Weeks
Peak Position: #10
Debut Date: November 1, 2014
One of the tracks I'm currently hooked into. This marks the debut appearance of both Alesso and Tove Lo on my yearend charts. It was kind of interesting hearing Tove Lo something different from "Habits" which I find too overwhelming. Everything was just right in place - the lyrics, the vocals and the mix.
♫ "Everyday people do everyday things but I can't be one of them. I know you hear me now. We are a different kind. We can do anything." ♫
2013: LANA DEL REY vs. CEDRIC GERVAIS, "Summertime Sadness (Cedric Gervais Remix)" |

DEMI LOVATO, "Let It Go"
Frozen
Best Movie Song Ever
Who was not infected by the "Let It Go" fever? No matter how commercialized and overplayed it is, "Let It Go" is still one single I dig for. At first, I loved it because it was a Demi track where she sounded outstanding, but the constant rave of people about it made the effect last long. All praise to Idina's version as well.
♫ "It's funny how some distance makes everything seem small; and the fears that once controlled me can't get to me at all." ♫
RUNNER-UP: CHARLI XCX, "Boom Clap" |
