Well i guess i was wrong...in the 90's brandy really has international success one of her albums sold 14 million copies worldwide but after that album she flopped and flopped and flopped..however...ashanti will get her time back...Look at alicia she is always successfull..

The thing about it is, continued relevance is a rarity. Madonna, Janet and Mariah are the exceptions, not the normal occurrences. That's why they're all so respected in the Hollywood community. All of them have had ups and downs in their careers (and some are experiencing them now), but overall they have all remained popular for around 20 years. That's amazing, and you just can't expect the same thing from singers like Ashanti. She is a relatively disposable artist and easily replaced by a newer one (Rihanna, Beyonce, Ciara).

Alicia is incredibly talented and has massive crossover appeal. Her music is very different from Ashanti's.

Ashitty gets no respect because she deserves none. She rode the coatails of Murder Inc for her first two albums, and the moment she left them loss all chance of success. She just doesn't have star potential and there are a lot of female R&B singers for her to keep up with. What is she marketing to us besides her off key live performances and yelling on every song she records?

She hasn't done anything to stand out and she didn't pick a great lead single (REALLY? Who wants to listen to "The Way I Love You" (besides me ) in the SPRING/SUMMMER time? Exacttly.
