It's not about being politically correct. Had Africans gone to Europe and enslaved your ancestors and called them derogatory names instead of vice versa or if white people had to endure years of discrimination, racism, and segregation they wouldn't be considered the superior race. This isn't the case though. White people are considered the superior race based on history and the things that continue to go on today. Black people were called Negroes, ******s, "colored" all while being oppressed at the hand of white people. I don't understand what isn't clicking with some of you to not understand why it is offensive to call a black person a negro.

we aren't all equal because of the way our history has gone, no western societies (and most other societies nowadays) are built upon equality so they're not just all of a sudden going to be equal

im sorry if i offended you koreandream or anyone else. what i have been saying is what I've known my whole life so this was kind of a culture shock. i truly did not realize actual prejudice towards races still happened. (don't attack me im sheltered af)

Of course you don't realize it because you're white (right?). It's so easy for y'all to overlook it and ignore it because it doesn't directly affect you. It's not oppressing you. What'd I do besides state the obvious? Many white people think we live in a post-racist America because they aren't "taught" otherwise; however, you don't just learn by having people tell you otherwise. You can learn though observation as well, but many choose to ignore it or like I said it's programmed into them and they can be witnessing something and not even realize it's racist because it's part of their subconscious.

I'm really unsure if people who don't get this are genuinely THAT ignorant, or are just stupidly stubborn (aka can't bear to let go of their racist vocabulary, apparently ).

What scares me the most is that people act like "there was a civil rights movement, Obama is president THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS RACISM NOW!" like Do you not realize your grandparents grew up in a segregated USA? That just a few generations before them, slavery was still legal? It's all disturbingly recent. Acting like that's all fixed now is just

But you can at least admit we've come a long way as a society to make things more equal. I don't think there can ever truly be a totally equal society though.
