edit: not someone saying 21 isn't iconic

wha a delusional filled comment sis!
not you dismissing the real summer anthem of this decade "california gurls"
the nostalgic classic that is teenage dream
the diverse urban steven spielberg influenced E.T

I'd say so, the whole album is great, the only song I don't like is Who Am I Living For?

Technically speaking because of its amount of number one singles. However, people will forget about it. No Grammys, horrible album sales, horrible accompanying tour gross, no impact, flop movie, generic sound ex.

Grammy's don't mean ****, her album has sold 11mil, she grossed fine considering the prices (which were half of gagas), ummm haha!, her movie did fine if you compare it to others such as hers, like madonnas, the albums actually pretty dynamic

Of course it is! Dead @ the haters coming in here only to say "No, it's generic" like that adds any support whatsoever to your already invalid argument.
Teenage Dream will go down in history for all the records it broke + the longevity it had, not because of the score it has on Metacritic. They tried tho!

One of them from this era in time I'd say but only time will tell how many people remember it 10+ years from now.

She released like 8 singles, huge promotion, a movie and a re-release and it's no where to be found on Worldwide iTunes Album Chart as soon as she took a break and she's no longer in the spot light, that's underwhelming for an album that everybody is claiming to be iconic, even in the the US, it's falling on the Catalog Albums chart. It actually didn't do anything compared to D&H or Eminem's albums for example.

Lol the era as a whole is already more/less already forgotten despite all the 1,999 #1 hits it had.

+ I see lots of people still playing it, reblogging it on tumblr. In fact, I recently had to drive 3 hours and heard CG, Wide Awake, Firework, E.T. all in that 3 hour period on pop radio.

Global iTunes Artist Ranking
125. Katy Perry
Songs: 168 Points
Albums: 111 Points
She has released like 12 singles from both albums, 8 from TD which you claim is memorable, I think her songs' WW total points should be higher compared to others, and her last single was released at May 2012 and the film was released at July.

what do you expect? her last single was last year and her album was released in 2010. 3 years later and it's still charting. if it's forgotten why is it still charting? the logic

at the gurls who don't say it's iocnic. Like getting 5 #1 hits from a single album is that easy. Of course it's icnonic, regardless of what the pressed fans say Being generic doesn't mean that it won't be remembered....

What's charting you're talking about, selling 2k in the US and a couple hundreds around the world with an album that was still being promoted for til the end summer of 2012. A lot of other albums that didn't get five #1's are still charting better. And Wide awake reached its peak on Billboard Hot 100 at August 2012.

Records are made to be broken.
I have no doubt that it'll be in history, but whether it'll stand the test of time is another story.
