Call Me Maybe has not made a bigger cultural impact than Tik Tok or Poker Face. It could surpass Poker Face eventually, but Tik Tok really was a phenom of the current Pop Girls and will be very hard to top.

BOMT has it's music video to it's advantage. Not only was the song a phenomenon, but the video as well. The Call Me Maybe video isn't memorable at all, even with it's desperate last scene. Also, Britney showed potential with BOMT, she created a fanbase with that song. Everyone in the world knows Carly Rayson is a one-hit wonder and she has no fanbase created by the song.

It's almost as big as "Happy Birthday" song already.. No one remembers/cares about the BOMT except music related people or people who somehow grew up being exposed to Britney. CMM is bigger than Carly could ever be though. I blame its simplicity and the stupid hand gestures for its massive succes. EVERYONE and their mom needs the feel to dub along doing the phone thing

Every relatively new person that comes onto the pop music scene is labelled a one-hit wonder though.. At least in the last few years anyway. Some people even tried it with Gaga back in the day and they certainly did it to Ke$ha as well. Both proved otherwise having more hits. I wouldn't count Carly out just yet. If she delivers more quality songs, she will be here to stay. I think there is more to her than this song in particular.

The things is, BOMT was released over a decade ago, and everyone, from senior citizens to little 5-years olds, still knows the song. So I don't see your point when you say, "nobody remembers cares about BOMT anymore."

He's just delusional. I'm not a Britney fan but NOBODY can deny how huge BOMT was and still is. EVERYBODY know that song. Call Me Maybe is just the song of the moment, nothing impressive. Nobody will remember it in 10 years.
