That's not true. She may have been hated by the media but she was NEVER the most hated person in the world by the public. The low points in Michael and Madonna's careers were much worse in terms of backlash.

I will always maintain that Britney was a fluke, but there's no denying she's as big as Michael or Madonna in terms of her impact on pop culture.

The thing is Britney has placed herself in a position to where she can do little to no promo and still break records with ease. She has an "IT" factor that won't fade away and millions around the world dream of possessing. The parallels between the two are similar in a way, but I think Britney has earned the distinction of having someone be called, "The next Britney Spears" or so on, not her be questioned of being the next_________________. If we’re going to talk comparisons, Britney’s total domination should draw questions of whether she has cemented herself as being in the same ranks as Madonna and Michael Jackson yet, or whether it’s going to take another five years — not whether she can outdo the latest It-Girl who only hit it big two years ago.
