honestly... i struggle with this
personally, i believe that god is real
i don't believe god has any personification
i believe god is more of an "it" than a "they"
growing up Black in the Southern US, there's no way around exposure Christianity
and while I think it's great in the sense that it's been a source of hope and inspiration to my people amidst struggles that we continue to face even in two thousand and six-****ing-teen, it's also the source of much turmoil
for one, organized religion, when viewed objectively, is just a tool for propaganda
it's easy to control the masses when you prey on their sense of hope
and while it's true that propaganda is ethically neutral in essence and can be used for good or bad,
we have to keep in mind what we're dealing with here
this is a religion that has been used to start wars, justify homophobia, misogyny, and the enslavement and inhumane treatment of Black people (because it's argued that Black Americans are the New Israelites)
I recently befriended a group of
very Christian gays for the first time and boy! was it an experience...
(for my alabaster brothers and sisters who don't know, there's a stigma surrounding the "church queens" in the Black gay community which essentially labels them as self-hating hypocrites)
one of the first times that we hung out together, I was sitting there listening to them have a conversation about homosexual acts, describing techniques that they used while fellating other men in graphic detail and openly identifying the men they engaged in such acts with
shortly thereafter, one of them brought up how someone they all knew recently started doing drag and they were passing around a picture of them on their phone, to which the fellow church queens responded with raised eyebrows, heavy sighs and "chile..." expressing their disapproval
one of them chimed in with, "I feel like being gay is bad enough, but to be transgender is the ultimate slap in the face to God cause that's showing him that you hate the way he made you."
now, mind you, I've been trying to be on my "accepting others for their differences and being less judgmental" **** lately, so I didn't say anything to them... their beliefs are their business...
but,
BINCH
this is my thing
The Bible says what about being trans? absolutely nothing.
homosexuality on the other hand is actually condemned
so while y'all sitting up here having no shame talking about all the dick slobbing, booty licking encounters you've had with trade over the years and frowning up at your sis because she likes to paint her face and throw on a nice wig and a pair of heels, you look absolutely foolish
and as CHRISTIANS, if you really felt that something was somehow wrong with trans people because of their gender identity, it would make more sense for you to take these people by the hand and befriend them and give them the help you think they so desperately need by leading them to Jesus, the son of the Most High, who is the way and the truth and the life
but you didn't wanna do that
you just wanted an excuse to project your deeply rooted insecurities about your own identity onto someone else and the reason you spend so much time in church is likely because you think you are somehow absolved from your sodomy and won't be cast into the lake which burns with fire and brimstone with the rest of the filthy, sinful homos and effeminate males
