Time for the kick-off, with albums 40 through 36.

40.
BRITNEY SPEARS - FEMME FATALE
Over a year absent from the game and Britney came back with this electro-pop set of pure sex. On first listen, I thought Femme Fatale was absolutely flawless, but as the months have progressed I've begun to see it in a more objective light. While the album does offer such pop gems as "Till the World Ends", "Inside Out", and "Trip to Your Heart", it's rather disposable as a whole and makes me reminisce about the old days. Regardless, the album was good enough to reach this top 40 list, clocking in at #40 for the kick-off. Hurrah! |

VANESSA CARLTON - RABBITS ON THE RUN
Now I've always been a huge Vanessa Carlton fan, but something about Rabbits on the Run was just off. Sure, it was critically-acclaimed, but after the flawless Be Not Nobody and orgasmic Heroes & Thieves, Rabbits on the Run was quite the disappointment. Shoot me if you must, but Rabbits seems like nothing but a cliched attempt to make Vanessa something she's not, hence the #39 position. |

WALE - AMBITION
Wale's first album Attention Deficit hit stands about two years ago and achieved absolutely 0 commercial success. However, I found it to be a strong rap debut which served its purpose, so my standards for any future Wale music were high. His follow-up, Ambition, by no means disappointed. Grittier, rougher, and more well put-together as an album than his debut, Ambition takes its spot on this Top 40 list at #38. |

MISS A - A CLASS
K-pop girl group miss A stepped on the scene in July of 2010 as JYP Entertainment's new divas on the block, and let's just say I was not impressed. Their debut single "Bad Girl Good Girl" was flawless, I'll admit, but their first mini-album Bad But Good fell short. I even dubbed them the name of "miss Awful", and their follow-up single "Breathe" did nothing to change this opinion. However, their debut album A Class forced me to do a total 180. The record offers absolute diamonds - "One to Ten", "Good-bye Baby", "Love Alone" - but only 5 of its 13 tracks are new, so I couldn't place it higher than #37 on this list. That simply wouldn't be fair. |

CHER LLOYD - STICKS + STONES
Cher Lloyd, an eX-Factor (get it?) contestant from the 2010 season, delivered one of the best debuts by an ex-reality contestant ever. Sticks + Stones is compiled of fun, obnoxious pop songs - the only thing an album by a girl like Cher should be compiled of. While "Want U Back", "Swagger Jagger", "Playa Boi", "Superhero", and "End Up Here" are perfect in every sense of the word, I honestly couldn't allow for the album to reach any higher position than #36 on this countdown when "Grow Up" is included on the tracklist. Sorry. |
