 I think people are confusing it and seeing a black man talk politics and think he must be on a black power trip.
He's talking about the government getting in bed with major corporations and THAT creating new slavery. The race stuff is being used as an analogy, not as the central element of his "activism." Yes there are parts of his songs that are still about modern racism, but its not the primary focus.
And at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if his politics are right or not because he's not a politician. He's an artist, and a pop/shock artist at that. Did he make an interesting statement and present it in a unique way? I say yes. Kanye projecting his face like Big Brother all over the world and shouting about going Bobby Broucher and the prison-industrial complex is easily one of the most epic things an artist has done in years.
