I grew up spoiled and have always low key been. Maybe that's because my parents have always wanted to give me the best, even though they knew it would be hard on them to do so. There has been a point where we struggled to even put food on the table. It was horrible. We almost lost our house. So I don't want to read "children in Africa" ********.

Like... okay.. i'm kinda mad. For starters, it's the most generic gift ever, it shows no thought at all. Secondly, it's cheap as hell, everyone knows how much they cost. Thirdly, I'm obsessed with toiletries anyway and I always buy myself cute shower and bath stuff, so I don't need any.

Not to sound ungrateful, but i'd just rather get like, generic chocolates or something.

I totally get you. Now that's just stupid. Some people should never bother with gifting if they refuse to be thoughtful and budget for it properly.

True dat. Also, in retail now in my store, we allow you to exchange gift cards for another gift card with the same amount. Like if you got Barnes and Nobles, you can get iTunes instead. I feel like this is a right step in that direction for gift cards.

On topic:
Regardless though, if you really want cash, just tell the person gifting you. Much more simple than complaining about it.
