Impressive for a local artist.

Biggest opening week for a female artist in the UK since Emile Sande in Dec 2012.

So bigger than the latest releases from Gaga, Beyonce, Pink, Katy Perry and Lana Del Rey who are all big overseas female artists in the UK. Beyonce was released on a Friday so did not have a full week of sales, so it makes directly comparing them a bit difficult. When looking at female artists only Rihanna's Unapologetic in recent years opened with more than 1989.

Red opened with 61k in the UK, so 1989 opening with 90k is basically a 50% increase. Pretty big improvement!

I don't know how to feel about the fact that 100% of Martin's songs are still in the T100 on iTunes, and the only non-Martin songs still there are the promo singles (so not I Wish You Would, This Love, I Know Places, This Love).
Over in Canada where the bonus tracks are on iTunes, the one still in the T100 is Wonderland - also Martin.

This pretty much means that the singles will probably be Martin Martin Martin Martin with a token non-Martin - I'm assuming Out of the Woods. That's what she did with RED for the pop radio singles...but at least the Martin tracks here are both more distinctively Swiftian and much more varied. Like, plenty of people came at her last time for having both of her "immature" songs We Are Never and 22 as pop singles, so that should be less of an issue here. Still, I don't want her to be so Martin reliant for too long.

I didn't think about that, but if she does SIO ---> BS ---> OOtW ---> Style ---> AYHtDWS like I want her to, those are all Martin but OOtW.

Martin does have the best songs on the album, so it's an accurate representation nonetheless in my opinion.

Weird. Cause the deluxe said $13.99 and I paid around $14.83 or something.

That's why I was able to buy more first week. Cause red's deluxe was 'on sale' for $16.99.

It's Sunday, the first week "sale" prices end at close on Saturday. That's pretty much how it works at every American store. I just went through the weekly mailer for Target, the Deluxe is $17.99 this week.
